For Kirtland AFB FamCamp: Stayed 19-21 Aug 2024 on Space 42 dry camp. $20/day. Self check in after 1700. Mark X on the table for the spot you want, fill out form and pay via check or credit card. Back in gravel parking. Decent restrooms/showers. Has coin operated laundry. Use Eubank entrance for smaller rig. I have a converted 20’ van. Temps were in the 90-100 during my stay but camp has a dedicated AC room with ice machine inside. Will be back here again if in the area for short stay.

For Kirtland AFB FamCamp: If you have a large rig do t follow all stay, Waze or Google directions they will send you on a maze of small roads. Do use the Truman gate go straight on Truman St SE, (which turns into Grace Ave SE for a short bit) to the end turn left on to Randolph Ave SE. Go straight for awhile until you go around a curve then it turns into Kirtland Ave SE. Then follow the road around to Hardin Blvd. Follow Hardin Blvd all the way down and when it curves the road turns into Hardin De SE then into 20th St SE. Once you cross over G Ave SE road turn left in the opening between the yellow barriers in the road (there is no sign directing you to the FamCamp). Go straight into Campground and the office.

For Kirtland AFB FamCamp: Great campground! We followed the directions and found the campground with ease (even after hours). Restrooms were clean, they have a great dog wash station, and sites are large. Albequerque isn’t the safest city but we felt very safe on base.

For Kirtland AFB FamCamp: Once you arrive at the Famcamp, all is great. Getting there after dark in a 45’ MH towing is a challenge. Totally agree with gate recommendations for big rigs but once you’re on base, the adventure isn’t over. Base is a cobweb of narrow streets 2 or 3 blocks long so you’ll make 10 tight turns before arrival. Impossible to avoid curbing tires with traffic impeding right turn swings. Not sure why the 40’ restrictions on RV length unless driven by the narrow streets mentioned above. The sites in the newer gravel section can easily accommodate 60’ rigs.

For Kirtland AFB FamCamp: Nice campsites with plenty of space, quiet, and well maintained. The directions on this app were not helpful. We came in after dark. I recommend putting the Truman Gate entrance into your gps and then once you arrive on the base use the map to locate the campground and clicking it to direct you. After driving to the flight line we did what I suggested.

For Kirtland AFB FamCamp: We’ve been camping for over 20 years and have never incounter a worse place to camp! First thing is the office people were very disinterested in us being there! Very slow and had no knowledge. Told us the printer didn’t work so they would e-mail us a receipt! No e-mai! The price of camping was of the charts at $48.00 dollars per night for two people! Water and Electricity! Most places state and county parks are less! Went to buy some ice and was told there not selling ice this year! Even though they have a ice cooler behind the building! Don’t go!
