Jacki

For Elk Meadow Lodge And RV Resort: I have been a camper at Spruce Lake (1990’s) and Elk Meadow Campground (since 2000). So over 25 years with this company. This year I had to leave 3 days early due to a medical issue that my medical team recommend I return home ASAP. So I left 3 days early. After being a camper with them for over 25 years, sometimes more than once a season, they WOULD NOT provide a credit for the next season due to needing to leave. Even though they have done away with the General Store, a bathroom is usually out of service, no ice cream bars, scant RV supplies, cable TV, and now no WiFi….continuing to cut services for campers yet increase costs…..I will NOT be returning to this campground or sister campgrounds. Though they have wonderful views, I will choose to camp at other campgrounds in the area. This is pure greed on the owners and mangers part and no concerns about returning, loyal customers. One other note about this year’s stay, we were under a Red Flag Warning and a burn ban. Durning this high fire risk weather, there was a very large fire with sparks in the pit by the playground and a camper had one at their site. I witnessed and reported to the assistant manger who was walking her dogs long before there ban and warnings were lifted. The next day I asked her if she was able to get the fires extinguished. She said no because the fires were started after the bans and warnings were lifted. And that was an outright lie as I reported before the bans and warnings ran out and the fires were going full force when I reported. So this also tells me that the assistant manager and the campground really doesn’t wish to enforce laws to preserve the area from another catastrophic wild fire in the National Park and the surrounding mountain towns and citizens. As a past resident of Colorado this really should upset local people and visitors.

Manuel

For Elk Meadow Lodge And RV Resort: Great location for visiting the Rocky Mountain National Park. Andrew and his wife were very friendly pleasant and helpful. At first glance site did not appear level but after using auto level worked out great so I would say level sites. excellent water pressure nice to have a high-pressure shower. Also nice that elk herd came through the park in the evening. The whole park is just dirt everywhere with a little patch of grass between sites. Can see that it could be dusty but there was a bit of rain on the time of our visit so not so much. Cute groundhogs running around.

For Elk Meadow Lodge And RV Resort: I had a similar experience with the owner as MountainsofBeauty. IF YOU STAY keep your distance from the owner. A most disagreeable person. Also your dogs will get giardia. It is very dusty. It is expensive.

For Elk Meadow Lodge And RV Resort: We had full hook-up and there weren’t many other campers due to the season. This place is really expensive but apparently they get takers at that price. We didn’t have dust but we did have snow. The dog run is great. Didn’t even look at the bathrooms so nothing there. Playground looked good. No complaints. We would stay there again. Cellular service was ok. Our dealings with staff were good. You are in the middle of a prairie dog town! Holes everywhere!

MountainsofBeauty

For Elk Meadow Lodge And RV Resort: We will NEVER visit this campground (and the others this person owns - Spruce Lake RV Resort also in Estes Park and Dakota Ridge RV Resort in Golden, CO) ever again and recommend to friends and others to avoid them as well. Yes, campground is a dust bowl - horrible. The real issue is the greed of the owner and certain employees are really rude. First - the rudeness. We came in at night, thankfully. We found our way to our campsite "un-aided", which was a godsend. They have an employee who drives a golf cart (much faster than stated campground speed limits) and YELLS at people b/c they aren't going fast enough and yells insults if he feels they are not backing into their RV space fast enough or "properly" enough. We saw this behavior every day we were there (and many folks came and went from this campground b/c it’s so close to RMNP). We also dealt with rudeness in the office. No need for that. Next if you have a repair necessary to your RV, AVOID AT ALL COSTS. We called Good Sam (b/c we have the extended service plan). They dispatched several people before one could actually come (after the office closed thankfully). The 1st guy dispatched told us the owner approached him with a loaded gun and chased him off. The 2nd guy said the owner wanted the techs to pay him money whenever a repair was performed on site. He refused and was banned from the site. The campground people said "you wouldn't want these people to work on your RV EVER." That's slander. And funny...Good Sam recommended them. Another campground we used earlier in the month handed out both their cards and praised them both. And speaking with them - BOTH tried to help us over the phone. Each were good guys. Then, the office people said it was b/c of insurance. Gee, that's funny. Good Sam pays more in insurance in 1 day than these people do all year, and the owner (and his employees) wants to claim their standards are higher than Good Sam's? GS requires all their techs to carry a high level of insurance and make them prove it. We didn't buy that insurance excuse story. Then, the campground people pushed 2 other repair guys. One stated point blank he only worked on AC and fridges, not our issue at all. Other guy never answered the phone or returned our calls. (We left VM’s.) Not surprised based on feedback we were getting elsewhere. It took the 4th person Good Sam dispatched to be able to come out. He did - after office hours. When the office found out, they tried to get his info. We didn't share and told them to talk to Good Sam. At that point, they backed off...especially since they are a Good Sam "recommended" campground. We did finally get the repairs done...but thanks to this campground and its owner, it cost us extra time and extra money. After talking to other RV owners in the area, we learned our situation was not an unusual one. Again, we will never EVER use this campground or the others owned by this person EVER again. Worst experience of our long trip out west.

National Park Roamer

For Elk Meadow Lodge And RV Resort: Although we did not use the facilities, my wife looked at them and the bathroom was very nice very clean and well-kept. Wonderful playground for kids and there were numerous elk viewings at various places in the park. We have a 45 foot diesel pusher with 23 foot trailer for a toad and our space had plenty of room and was very flat. We were in the C7. The scenery was nothing less than outstanding. It was also very convenient to the beaver meadows entrance to the national park about 2 miles. The park was a bit dusty but it seemed about normal to me and I would not downgrade the rating for that. The staff was super courteous and helpful with everything we ask about. Would definitely return if back in the area.
