For Canyonside Upper - Bluewater Lake State Park: Sites are mostly not level. Beautiful park and nice hiking trails. Quiet due to being far from interstate and railroad. Shower was clean and refreshing due to tepid, not warm water. Lake water was low. Would stay here again. Stayed here April 30, 2022. First come, first served only.

For Canyonside Upper - Bluewater Lake State Park: When we first showed up, we weren’t much on this campground. It seemed kinda tired in both look and feel. Dry. Very dry. But as the evening came on, it grew on us. Walked down to the lake, which was way down, maybe as much as 50% it seemed. But there were campers right on the lake so folks were still having fun. Walking in the morning, I found a non-electric camping area which had a nice view of the lake, and also discovered the park’s canyon, which had some hiking opportunities. Gravel pad, but pretty level. Some of the electric sites did not appear so level. Showers were closed for the season except at the visitor center which was clean - even smelled bleach. No AT&T service.

For Canyonside Upper - Bluewater Lake State Park: Beautiful ! Staying at Site 14. 30amp service. No OTA TV Channels. No AT&T service, 2 bars Verizon Lots of “road apples” for the dogs to get after so keep them on a short leash😅. Can hardly wait to explore tomorrow morning.

For Canyonside Upper - Bluewater Lake State Park: Stayed at electric site #1. Water hook up was close enough that we could fill our fresh water tank with a long extension which was really nice. Site required a number of blocks to level it out since it slopes quite a bit towards the electrical hookup. Nice hikes throughout the park, very quiet and serene.

For Canyonside Upper - Bluewater Lake State Park: To be honest, the drive to the park looks like a third world country going through the Rez, but don’t let that sway you from staying here. We were planning on staying just a couple of nights and ended up staying all week. Nestled in the piñon trees with gravel and dirt lots, fire pit, picnic table, 30/50 amp electric, bathrooms, showers, dump station, and water access for $14 a night. Unfortunately there are limited spaces that provide electricity and some are extremely unleveled, so reservations would be recommended during the peak season but since we were here in late March it wasn’t necessary. You definitely want to filter the water, it still had a dirt taste but was fine to drink and cook with. There’s a nice hike through the canyon that leads to the dam, a herd of wild horses that call the park home, and plenty of water activity options. My only complaints about this park, is the amount of garbage that needs to be cleaned up around it, and the showers are on a 30 second push button timer. Be sure to check out the little store in town, they don’t have much, but they do offer most of your camping essentials and the staff is very friendly.

For Canyonside Upper - Bluewater Lake State Park: Arrived just before dark and parked our teardrop in the Northpoint campground. It’s a beautiful area- especially the drive out and the air smelled of piñon and juniper. Hardly anyone else there in the last week of October. Showers and flush toilets are in the visitor center, located close to all the sites. Each campground has pit toilets as well. There’s a herd of wild horses that roam the park and two of them appeared the morning we left. Would gladly stay there again!
