For Kings Creek RV Cheatham Annex Recreation Area: An Unhappy Camper
Just returned from a short RV stay at Cheatham. When we left home the forecast was for wet weather but not too bad and Hurricane Joaquin was going to stay well out to sea. The night we arrived things changed dramatically. Rainfall was now predicted to be 6 to 9 inches with severe flooding and Hurricane Joaquin was now predicted to pass directly over Tidewater where we live and head up the Chesapeake Bay to DC as a Cat 1 or 2 storm. So we left early to prepare our home for heavy weather. I knew Cheatham would not do a refund for early departure but I fully expected they would credit us with 4 days at some future date given the circumstances. NOT SO! If you leave early you are stuck for the entire tab no matter what the reason! Keep in mind this is the off season and campers are sparse. I left a voice mail for the office supervisor to confirm this unwelcome news. Needless to say there was no return call. My advice: if there is the slightest chance that you may experience an emergency during your stay whether it is a death in the family, illness, earthquake, tornado or Hurricane you will receive no consideration from MWR management. I recommend staying at a commercial campground. So thanks Cheatham MWR please spend my $120 wisely.

For Kings Creek RV Cheatham Annex Recreation Area: Great RV park...wide concrete pads, full service including cable. Cable wasn't that good but first time I used it with new trailer so can't blame the park. Bath house is located more to one end so it would be a small walk for some if they used it Parking is available next to the bathrooms. Individual bathrooms/shower rooms, spacious and clean. Easy to find and is a short distance off of I64. Quiet. Probably no more than 10-12 sites occupied during our trip this past week (September late). Only gas station, laundry and small PX on base. Very close to everything we wanted to see...Williamsburg, Yorktown and Jamestown within 30 minutes all of them. $30 a night.

For Kings Creek RV Cheatham Annex Recreation Area: What a great park! Will definitely plan to return.
Had the new location overlooked the river it would have been a 5 star stopover.

For Kings Creek RV Cheatham Annex Recreation Area: Beautiful site, well located to area attractions and very quiet. Stayed here for a week and would have stayed longer if schedule would have allowed. Great facilities, very clean, easy in and out and very helpful staff. Excellant!

For Kings Creek RV Cheatham Annex Recreation Area: We stayed at the older site and loved it. Beautiful, peaceful. Lots of amazing history at this base. We toured Jamestown, Yorktown, and Williamsburg. Very centerally located. No amenities on base. Washers $.50, free dryer. Target 8 miles, Ft. Eustis short drive to exchange & commissary.

For Kings Creek RV Cheatham Annex Recreation Area: What a beautiful, peaceful campground in a wonderful location. This was "a sight for sore eyes" spent poring over RV park reviews. The people are friendly and helpful; the directions are easier than they sound; the new RV sites are long and spacious. We want and plan to return.
