For Shields Park NAS Recreation Site: This campground is right on the bay. There is an A and B side. A side is small with about 27 spots. Grass and gravel spots which are pretty level. Some of them are pull thru on the grass because in front is the street curb. Has free laundry with TV and restroom but no showers. Some of these spots are about 200 feet from the water. B side is farther away but is the main area. Showers and laundry also with water surrounding 3 sides of the campground. The B area has concrete pads. It appears all areas have FHU. Commissary is a long walk away but doable. The campground is pretty much removed from the rest of the base. The staff was friendly and worked the schedule that we could stay in the same spot. No camp store. Plenty of over the air TV channels. They do take reservations and sites were $20 per night. Would definitely stay here again.

For Shields Park NAS Recreation Site: At $20 per night for full hookups it's a good deal. Grass pull throughs, water front views. Showers are not conveniently located and were hard to find. If you have pets be aware that the campground is loaded, and I mean loaded with sand spurs.

For Shields Park NAS Recreation Site: Pretty much like past reviews but WiFi is back up BUT has issues. The mosquitos are huge and fierce and even in 15mph winds they still swarm you the minute you step out of the RV. Fishing pier is still closed due to hurricane damage and since you are out on a peninsula the winds don’t stop. Oh and the base pretty much shuts down at 7pm so if you need anything you will have to leave the base.

For Shields Park NAS Recreation Site: Friendly people, small base but has everything you need. Walmart a few miles from gate with lots of fishing gear available. There are two locations for RVs, one next to pier and small sandy beach. This spot alone would give this park a 4 or 5 star rating, but we were put into second section about 400-500 yards away. All it was a pasture with hookups and no trees. (Don't go down there in June like we did..so hot and humid) you can't beat the price of $19 a night. Asked about first location for openings they stated there are none (most are full timers) I check the three days we were there still no, funny they had 5 empty spots every time. Asked about those spots said are taking and paid in full and may be traveling somewhere else. Full timers run this park, so if you don't mind sitting in middle of field of stickers and rocks you might really enjoy this place. No WiFi, cell service poor and restrooms/bathrooms were dirty and one was unusable due to maintenance.

For Shields Park NAS Recreation Site: Would give it 5 stars but for the sand burrs. Know it's not the camps fault but it really caused havoc with my 2 dogs.
We were pad 17 in camp A and had a gorgeous view of the bay every morning. The staff were helpful in guiding us to see the sights around Corpus Christie.

For Shields Park NAS Recreation Site: We had a great time. Facilities are excellent and the rx park is very well kept. Only flaw is the fishing peers have been condemnd due to latest hurricane damage. I will return to this great rv park. We stayed in a fithwheel.

For Shields Park NAS Recreation Site: Second year staying here, we stayed July 2 thru 13, 2016 and had a great time however there are some issues that need addressed.
There are several homesteders who spoil the park, they have accumulated junk piled around their sites creating a getto effect, also on several occasions we saw these homesteders let their pets crap all over and not clean it up, if long term stays are necessay, then it shouldn't be obvious and others using the park shouldn't have to put up with the eyesores. The staff is great, and the park well kept in general, only the homesteders make it less than perfect.
