For Black Mesa State Park: Nice park hike to your heart’s content. Deer/turkey lots of birds. Be prepared before you get here 50 miles of open prairie to anywhere. Good roads but watch out for cows no fences. This is why I invested in a Starlink system very poor cell service if any

For Black Mesa State Park: VERY remote OK state park. Make sure you’re gassed up and stocked up. Closest city is 50 miles away. The high point mesa is 13 miles away. Sites are mostly gravel and with no shade. They are water and electricity only. There is a dump station. Rangers are friendly and helpful. There’s a newly opened camp store but it has a VERY limited inventory. Trails are short but well marked. There’s a creek fed swimming area that’s popular with the kids. Fishing is also popular. Due to the remoteness , doubt if I’ll ever return.

For Black Mesa State Park: This campground is fine. But be aware that the hookups for the back-in sites along the River are on the wrong side if you back in (and the river is 100 feet down a hill and there are tent sites between the RV sites and the River). Pads are gravel and pretty level though we did use our leveling blocks. Showers/bathrooms are brand new and in good shape. Staff at the visitor center was very nice when we went in for a few minutes in the morning. They have several aquariums with some of the local wildlife in the visitor center - all that was active when I was in there was a couple garter snakes, but I’m sure there’s a rattlesnake and likely a horned toad as well. Be aware the high point of Black Mesa is many miles off, so a long hike or a drive followed by a still several mile round trip hike will be required. This is a dark sky park. Cloud cover prevented us taking in those dark skies. If I were to return. I would consider RV sites 1-5 which are along the entry road. The hookups are appropriately placed on those sites and they are next to the road leading to some of the dark sky viewing area.

For Black Mesa State Park: Agree with all positive comments from previous reviews. Staff was very accommodating and friendly. We were in site #6 and could receive a very good Wi-Fi signal and phone (Verizon). We visited in mid November and we practically had the place to ourselves. Great hiking trails. They have a separate dark sky section but no hook-ups. If campground was full some sites may have been a bit close.

For Black Mesa State Park: Nice quiet campground. The small RV spots are set up well and clean. The night sky is great, though I wish the campground would prohibit lights after a certain hour. Some sites had Christmas lights up! It was too bright on the weekend but we had a dark sky experience at 2:30 in the morning on a Sunday night without leaving the campground. Bring lots of supplies as it’s far to any store and the camp office was closed both days we were there. We were running low on ice and water but made it ok until when we planned to leave.

For Black Mesa State Park: The location is pretty remote, but worth the solitude. A very quiet and non-crowded campground. A nice short hike from the campsite and a longer hike to the highest point in OK nearby. Water and electric sites, some of the utilities are set up a little funky, but workable. The bathrooms needed cleaning, but we can avoid them. The dump station was also a bit challenging. But with all that, still a nice couple day stay. The ranger was super nice, we had no contact with the camp host.

For Black Mesa State Park: Usually a great stopping point on the way to and from Colorado. The camp host this year is horrible and rude. Thanks Black Mesa hire someone that doesn’t yell at frequent campers.
