For Wright Patterson AFB FamCamp: I just arrived so I really do not have much experience with this famcamp. Why is it not 5 star. Several reasons. 1st. DO NOT FOLLOW GARMIN DIRECTIONS. Garmin does not know how to get on and off a base. The gate Garmin routs you to has been permanently closed. Next there is little or no road signs leading you to Wright Pat's main gate. Once you are at a gate the guard has no idea where the fam camp is located. After circuling around the base once I finally saw a sign for Base Lake & RV camp. There wasn't many signs but there was one at each turn so I was able to get to the park. 30 mins before closing but the check in building is not maned and if you didn't record your site number you would have no idea where to go. Other than that it looks like a very nice park. Grass is cut, sites are narrow but paved. But you are on the far side of the base so getting to commissary, xchange, etc is a long drive around the runways.

For Wright Patterson AFB FamCamp: This is a nice FanCamp, but we had an odd experience here. We made a reservation for one night in advance and paid for it over the phone. On the way here, we tried to call ahead for our lot number (We received no email). No one returned our calls. Even when we arrived, there was no one at the office and no host. Still no one answered our calls. We picked our own spot and luckily, no came to claim it. A resident told us that the staff had quit. We called the Outdoor Rec office and they were no help. All facilities and sites are good. This is a great place to stay once the staff gets their act together.

For Wright Patterson AFB FamCamp: I spoke to the campground office to make my one-night reservation and confirmed that I could get on base with my DAV ID (NOT 100% disabled, but with “service connected” designation on VA medical ID) and get my spouse on base to use the campground. On arrival, the gate guard told me that I could not sponsor my spouse in the RV to get on base. Do not schedule here unless you are 100% DAV or have a DOD ID.

CG

For Wright Patterson AFB FamCamp: Easy to get to if you follow the directions in this app, Or a combination of this app and the ones you get in the confirmation email. Once you get to the RV park there are no navigation signs as to which rows have what numbers. We had to guess and then had to circle around. It’s a basic famcamp with a good dump site and decent showers. Although not the cleanest. Washer $3.00, Dryer $2.00.

For Wright Patterson AFB FamCamp: Campgrounds where great. Nice and convenient to Air Force museum However……base security is hypocritical. For two days I was allowed to come and go as I wished dressed casually and on my motorcycle trike. Then one day as I came back to the base I wasn’t allowed access due to improper motorcycle gear. I was left at the gate to figure out how to get to proper gear!!!! Ridiculous ! As a veteran Ive had to learn that there is grey in the world of black and white. This has changed my thoughts about using family camps. No more. Done with black and white thinkers. My last day I didn’t move from the camp as I was afraid I would be a target for the military police

For Wright Patterson AFB FamCamp: Highly recommend WPAFB FamCamp. I spent two nights in late September. Clean facilities, quiet, level sites, full hookups, dog park, peaceful setting next to lake, fast WIFI. Washing machine $2.00, Dryer $1.50.

Ann

For Wright Patterson AFB FamCamp: We stayed here for two nights in a 25ft Class C in July 2023. The sites are all paved with grass in between them. We had a full hookup. Older clean bathroom. We didn’t use the showers. Within walking distance to a lake with fishing. There was a fenced in dog park nearby. Camp hosts greeted us when we arrived. I took off a star because most sites are in the sun and the campground felt more like a parking area than a campground. Rows of campers next to each other with no privacy and little vegetation other than the grass. Good location for visiting Dayton and the local National Park and other sites. Would stay here again if in the area with the knowledge that it’s not a camping experience, just a quiet, clean , convenient place to stay.
