For Fontainebleau State Park: 01/30/2020 While traveling through the south, we booked a week in this state park. Most sites look level and are paved. Very few sites have sewer hookup but there is a dump station close by. A hassle to have to tear down to dump but what I am told is all the full hookups go really fast. 3 Shower buildings are nice and clean and they supply free laundry! My only complaint is the wet camp sites but don’t think there is anything they can do about it. It is LA after all and swamps are everywhere. It rained an inch yesterday and we have water all around our camper. The parking pads and all the roads are raised up to stay high and dry, it just the fire rings and picnic tables are sitting in water. We walked around looking at other camp sites and there are very few that’s grounds are high enough to be dry. I think this is a great example of what it is like in Louisiana camping. Security and staff here are very good, friendly and helpful. We would come back here again.

Dwight

For Fontainebleau State Park: One of the largest parks I have stayed in, located on a former sugar mill, timber and brick producing plantation on the north shore of Lake Pontchartrain. Lots of bike and walking areas, was a bit wet due to all the rain this January but the sites were dry and flat, water & electric. Weather was not conducive to swimming but few bugs. This was MLK weekend, so the place was very full, lots of activity, especially kids riding their bikes and playing on the play structures, but did quiet down around 10pm. Enjoyed learning the history of the area. Also had a great breakfast in Mandeville (historic section) at La Lou. Would come back when in the area.

Red Gypsy

For Fontainebleau State Park: Beautiful park with level pads. Clean, friendly, and quiet. Great fall specials on rates. Close to town and huge fenced dog park. Bathrooms spotless. Lake beach closed due to bacteria but doesn’t impact amazing sunsets. Will be back next year. Far far better than any private campground in NOLA BR areas.

Tracy Anderson

For Fontainebleau State Park: Best State Park I've stayed at and better than many private parks. Sites are generous size & level (concrete pad). Had pull-thru w/water, elec. Dump station on-site. Clean bathrooms, showers & free laundry. Best part was hundreds of old oak trees, some hundreds of years old, great pier & beautiful beach right on Lake Pontchartrain. Lots of different bird songs, walking trails in park.

Love to travel

For Fontainebleau State Park: We planned to stop here just for an overnight stay. As others have stated, it can be really wet! I was not prepared with rubber boots, so had to walk in deep water to hook/unhook water and electric. It is a beautiful spot with amazing large oak trees. The bathhouses are a little old, but clean and acceptable. There are dishwashing stations too. A paved bike path runs through the park if you’re into that. There were trails to walk, but too wet to do that. So my only issue was water!

NOBO Campers

For Fontainebleau State Park: Nice campground with paved sites. Some of them are pretty close which would be great if you’re camping with friends. Unfortunately, we were there during a pretty rainy stretch and found that the sites become swampy! Quiet campground and less than an hour to New Orleans.

Paul Cummingd

For Fontainebleau State Park: A nice park with good facilities and free laundry facilities. Picnic tables are in need of replacement and the ground is very susceptible to flooding after a rain. Our stay included two days of heavy rain which left many RV asphalt pads dry islands in a muddy swamp. New Orleans is about an hour away by the Lake Ponchartrain Causeway and shopping and entertainment is only minutes away from the park entrance. WiFi is sketchy.
