For Hells Gate State Park: Nice campground with a lot of space between sites but don’t bother showing up before check in time, you’ll be sitting in the parking lot.

For Hells Gate State Park: We stayed here in early October and the park was beautiful with the trees starting to turn. The high was about 80 degrees. Not many families and it was very quiet. We arrived about 4 pm so we never heard any boat noise. I love how deer wander through the park and there are great trails to walk, run or bike. We stayed in Birch Loop #47 and it was the most unlevel site in the park, but we managed! I love the paved roads and sites and the picnic tables. The full hookup sites are in Loop A, otherwise there is a dump station before you come into the park. Great place!

For Hells Gate State Park: We stayed here August 26 & 27, 2021. As others have said, the sites are spacious with lots of grass. Fortunately, the boat noise ended at night. The Visitors Center is really nice and we enjoyed the film about the Lewis & Clark expedition.

For Hells Gate State Park: Green grass and shade. Spacious sites. Lots of trails for running walking and biking. 4 golf courses close by. Right on the river. There is some boat noise. But this is the jet boat capital of the world and one can expect to hear some folks using them. Join them and take a hell’s canyon tour. The noise is not really even an issue in the several times we’ve stayed here. Great spot.

For Hells Gate State Park: I agree with the most recent reviews. Nice sized spaces, grass and trees. Staff were pretty quiet, I got to talk to one host the day we left, and they were nice. I rate this three stars for the atmosphere of the area. The park itself is fine. And, if it were placed in a different area, I would rate it much better. Here is what we did not like: for some reason the smoke hung around the campground, lots of families having fun, and lots of fires going. It got pretty smoky. Second, and the park has nothing to do with this: the noise from the big boats on the river. There were some boats that were so loud you couldn’t think when they went by. This noise was so distracting that it made our stay not at all peaceful. Overall, the town was ok, I found the people to be ok, not overly friendly, not rude. The feel of the whole experience was just ok, the park was nice, but we probably won’t come back this just wasn’t our thing. If you want peace and quiet, this is not the place for you. If hanging out with friends and have a boat, it would be a totally different story.

For Hells Gate State Park: Very pleasant place to stay. Staff are very friendly and helpful. Park is right on the Snake river on the Idaho side. Sites are shaded and grassy. All of the inside loop sites are pull-thrus. Only reason to downgrade slightly was RR were a bit basic—no hot water, soap, or paper towels. There were electric dryers. Showers were clean and water adjustment was good. Also, while there is a long beach by the river (with a nice bike/walking path), the beach is very sloped and the river isn’t suitable except for very experienced, strong river swimmers. We took a jet boat trip up the Snake and highly recommend it.

For Hells Gate State Park: This is a fantastic RV Park. The sites are well kept and spaced apart. Fires are okay. Dogs are okay. The river is right there and has NO-Guard swimming area. A day use area separates that activity from the RV area. We are Oct-Nov week, so it is getting late in the season. We were able to scoot into Lewiston and Clarkston to get an RV repair (RnR gives great service) and to Mr. Windshield to remedy some Al-Can gravel cracks across the windshield. Spent three days total and wanted to take the park with us because few are this good.
