For Morefield - Mesa Verde National Park: Some precautions are in order for this campground. It is very busy! There are black widows and brown recluse spiders in the bathrooms. But remember this is normal as you are in nature and this is their habitat. The Park Ranger said they haven't had anyone bitten this season. There is also the temptation to put your tent on the dirt tent pads that may be unlevel off the parking area at your site. Don't do it. Rodents live back there possibly, not definitely and could be contaminating the dirt with the Hantavirus which is deadly if it gets in your lungs without proper treatment. All this information is posted, but you will have a safe time if you know to pitch your tent on the gravel pad and forgo the temptation to be in the shade in the back areas that they have poorly attempted to develop into properly leveled site pads. Remember, you will be spending your day hiking and driving the park, there is no need to have a shady private tent site necessarily and you will have a happier time if you follow these precautions. I would go back. I would arrive at 11:00 to get the best site in the middle of the week. Don't wait until the weekend as some sites are horribly un-level.

P.B

For Morefield - Mesa Verde National Park: We were very excited to stay here, love the area, love the history of the place. So, to say we were disappointed when we got to the campground is an understatement. The spaces are very small and practically on top of each other. No real privacy at all.
We reserved a space for two night but decided to leave because of the lack of privacy and the weather. We went to get a refund of our second night they said we couldn't have it because you need a 72 hour notice. One positive the bathrooms and dump stations were nice. So if you like being ripped off, people out your door, and clean restrooms this place is for you!

For Morefield - Mesa Verde National Park: Had good site on Hopi loop. Great bathrooms. Our area quiet. Most with no hook ups. Dump station and access to water to fill tanks. Showers free. Laundry and showers open 24 hours but are about 1 mile away from campgrounds

Crampshaw

For Morefield - Mesa Verde National Park: We stayed in the Zuni loop before the CG opened for the spring. Toilets were open, but there was no water in the CG except for the bathroom lav. CG was clean and well kept. Poor to no Verizon signal. Wifi was turned on the last day we were there and worked good. Showers adequate. Cold water only in all lavatories which I don't get.

For Morefield - Mesa Verde National Park: My husband and I just spent two nights at the Lower Wolf Creek campground and it was beautiful! We go camping at least once a month all year and this is the cleanest site we've been to all year! We have never experienced vaulted toilets where we didn't have to hold our breath the whole time. The restrooms were immaculate! We stayed at spot #10 and it was raked and clean when we arrived. Tent sites are padded w/ sand, which made for a super comfortable slumber. We look forward to staying here again!

For Morefield - Mesa Verde National Park: Everyone should see this, but get ready to drive. Very scattered sites and overlooks. If you hike, take a map and compass . You cannot depend on trail signs and markers. Many lost hikers. Shame on park service for not updating and maintaining these. Roads definitely not for big rigs.
