Hawk on the Wing
For Fox Hill Campground: Interesting place.
The good: It’s free. It’s in the mountains with nice tall ponderosas. The sites are surprisingly flat. Definitely a locals haunt. A few other campers. I’m a devoted boondocker so I like it.
The baldish: it is next to an ATV area so peeps camp here largely for that. Also near a gravel road with a fair amount of traffic (breeze was keeping the dust away). The route up here gets very steep when it turns to gravel. The signs first warn 17% (and they’re serious). Then a sign that says “Last Chance to Turn Around”. Then just before the steepest section a sign warns “Loose Gravel”. Needless to say if you are pulling a trailer you need 4WD, low range, and maybe even traction control or lockers. After that you’re fine. A fun challenge if you’re up for it. I highly recommend it ?
