For Bar X Ranch: We enjoyed our overnight at Bar X Ranch. Having stayed in the crowded, tight "city" campground in Medora we found this vastly preferable, personal taste. The Bar X is a working ranch. It is 17 minutes off I 90, 15 minutes of which is well maintained, scenic gravel/dirt road. It is adjacent to the Sully State Campground but you can't get there from Bar X....that is to say Sully Creek is accessible via Exit 24, probably 15 minutes off I 90 while the Bar x is accessible via Exit 23. This is a ranch for horse lovers. You bring your horse, trailer and enjoy unbelievable horse trails, as beautiful as in the National Park. The trailer sites are electric only, essentially in a pasture, some shade, no restrooms/laundry. For self contained units. For 2022 the price was $25.00/night, half what Sully Creek is. Some low limbs so be alert, did not stop our entrance. Water fill is available plus campfire rings. The pasture is poorly drained thus it was muddy when we arrived and with cool rain last night really muddy. We were able to level. Was in the area last year when at 100 degrees it would have been incredibly dusty...climate changes! The activities involve walking, watching horses, cattle, dogs, other wildlife. We enjoyed our evening. There would have been good star gazing but it was cloudy and we could not stay awake. Camp host available to help you park. No west bound entrance to I 90,you have to go east a mile, get off and then get back on if headed west. Hope to come again.
