For Creekside - Lake Casitas Recreation Area: This was the first time we have been to this particular reservoir so we wanted to drive in to see the different camp spots so we could see how level they were, was there enough tree clearance, etc. There are several lanes set up for traffic to enter the Lake Casitas Reservoir, but only one lane was open and there was a line of vehicles. When we finally did get up to the booth, the Park Ranger said that we couldn’t get a short term pass to just look at the camp spots and lake levels because they don’t issue visitor passes on Friday, Saturday or Sunday. The reservoir is very low and the water is a great distance from the boat launch ramp now (we could see that from the highway on the other side). This seems like a silly rule and I won’t be back. There are several other lakes in the area that are more accommodating. I have never been told such nonsense before. In the adjacent county, Santa Barbara County, the staff are very friendly and helpful and don’t have these issues.
