For Blue Bear Mountain Campground: We stayed at Blue Bear Mountain in October ‘23, this is a very nice CG. Friendly, attentive, very helpful managers. This is essentially a large, mostly open field on top of a small mountain. We had site 12 which is electric only, we filled our tank upon arriving, there is an easily accessible dump station to use when you leave. There are a variety of sites appropriate for big and small RVs as well as tent sites and a few geodesic dome units and a really nice small A-Frame cabin. Firewood is available and they deliver it to your site. We did use the bathhouse during the week we stayed (in our 33’ 5th wheel) and they were cleaned daily, shower was hot, the private bathrooms with shower were roomy and very clean. The hiking trails were a bit challenging but enjoyable for a couple of mid-60yo’s. The only negative is the road into the campground, it’s 1.5 lanes wide, dirt, with switchbacks and it’s steep - like 9* steep at places. That said we made it unscathed and we weren’t the biggest rig there. Take it slow and carefully and you’ll get there. We will stay there again when visiting the Boone NC area.

For Blue Bear Mountain Campground: Not very hospitable or understanding. Made an online reservation which required a credit card payment for a one night pull thru site. For a Sunday night. THEY HAD FOUR SUCH SITES TO CHOOSE FROM!
On the way there from Virginia we blew a bearing on or TT. Thanks goodness for our TST system. Could not find a repair till Tuesday. Called Blue Mountain on Sunday to let them know we would not be there and why. Pam stated no refunds were allowed. But we could stay any other night within a year. We told her our misfortune and that we would have to head back to Nevada. She would talk to her boss about it. Called back today 11/17 and was told NO ACCEPTIONS. We understand the policy during busy seasons but not so when the place has empty sites. S

For Blue Bear Mountain Campground: Stunning area! The campsite is on top of a mountain, getting there with our trailer was a little rough, nearly had to use 4 wheel drive on the winding dirt road, however it was worth the drive. This is a low density campground with only a few RV spaces. We arrived on a Monday and there was only one other trailer and one tent camper there. So peaceful and quiet! Mike greeted us and helped us to our campsite and then checked in before he left for the day to see if we needed anything. Beautiful hiking trails that lead to backpacking tent sites. Bathroom and showers were clean and private. Electric at the campsite only, but there is a dump station and water refilling area. We spent two nights here and would definitely comeback in the future if we are in the area. Highly recommend this location.

For Blue Bear Mountain Campground: This place is very cool. Sits at about 4000 ft above sea level. Wide panoramic view of the stars at night. Lots of trails for hiking. They have anything from tent sites that are primitive to TeePee cabins, to some pretty nice RV sites. We are looking forward to the meteor shower tonight.

For Blue Bear Mountain Campground: Wonderful private campground. Beautiful wooded sites, perfect for our pop-up. Private showers in the bathhouse, everything always stocked and cleaned. We are staying here for several months while working in the area and could not be happier with the hosts, they go out of their way to make sure you have all you need for a great stay. Follow the directions on their website, not GPS. Also if you are going to be surprised by a steep dirt road you probably shouldn’t be camping in the Blue Ridge Mountains!

For Blue Bear Mountain Campground: An exceptionally beautiful campground located on top of a mountain nestled in the hills between Boone and West Jefferson. Very little signage on Highway 194 marking the turn; suggest you call them beforehand for specific directions. After you turn off Highway 194 you will ascend a gravel road (we measured eight degrees incline at several spots), but no problems getting up in our two-wheel drive truck and 26' camper. As noted by other reviewers, it's essentially a large grassy area with RV sites (mostly shady) around the perimeter that are equipped with picnic tables and rock fire rings. Only electric hookups are available at these sites. Since most RVs are self-contained this presents no problem. A dump station is on the property as well as spigots where you can fill your fresh water tanks. The staff is excellent and works very hard to maintain the grounds in spotless condition. The bathrooms were kept very clean. Lots of tent sites. We were here for five nights in mid-October, and will return next year!

For Blue Bear Mountain Campground: Blue Bear campground sits on a 150 acre property toward the top of a mountain. The site is basically a huge open meadow with RV and ten sides spread around the perimeter. There are hiking trails around the property, but we didn't have time to check them out. Overall we had a great experience here, but I knock them 1 star for not providing water at the RV sites (they do have electric hook-up). Be aware that the road up is a steep, narrow gravel road that is rough from wash-outs in a few places.
