For Bayard City Park: Stayed here Thursday through Saturday end of June 2024.
Campground smelled like Heaven due to the blooming Linden tree in the Lovely park right across the street. You can be level on all sites on this gravel lot. You can hear all the trains on the south side of town so you need good ear plugs. Also, Saturday evening had lots of home fireworks since it was the weekend before the Fourth of July. Saturday morning the electricity was off here & throughout town, but chimney rock national historic site has a different company so they had electricity but no Internet. The morning walk to chimney rock was blessed with Meadowlarks singing & two surprising big bridges over large ravines. Trails there are lined with sunflowers which will be blooming in July-August. There is a nice interesting depot museum on the south side of town with lots of old labeled farm equipment. The Dollar General had a $20 hot plate when my stove died. Got a free lollipop from the city when I paid 25 for the third night and I was happy to add an extra donation to think the nice people in this town for their great hospitality to us travelers. Thank you.!

For Bayard City Park: Our first time there and every other comment is positive, so is ours. Free, 30 and 50 amp, water. Very quiet. Large park across the street. No issue with the gravel road at this time. Sign on Main St. for dump station on 5th Street, go about two blocks west off Main.

For Bayard City Park: Two stars for free services, but none for the actual stay. Apparently the little gravel road around the park is a popular place for the locals to race at night. The same vehicles slid around the corner, reving engines, spewing gravel, kicking up thick dust, and blaring stereos, over and over. From about 9-11:30pm. On a Thursday. The dust was so thick we could smell it (and exhaust) inside with the windows all closed tight. We'd have left, but it was AZ dust storm thick; visibility was reduced to about halfway across the parking lot. Fortunately we were not parked in the path of flying gravel, unlike the unfortunate guy at the other end of the parking area! He probably took some paint damage. So much for the expensive rv wash we'd bought the day before, though. Cops came and ran them off, drivers back in ten minutes, repeat. Had planned to stay a couple days to really hang out and see Chimney Rock. Left early as not up for another night of no sleep, and need to go get another wash now!
