For Slab City Low Road Area: The only reason I'm not giving five stars is because it doesn't have utilities. This is a very unique area that is considered the last place in the US without laws. You get all kinds of people here from Elder employ, drug users, lots of artists, etc. people actually live here although during the summer population goes way down because the temperature is 115+ I wouldn't leave things out at night but everyone I talk to says it's safe and we stayed in front of the range which is like a bar and stage. Tonight is Saturday night and there's entertainment. It's a working community where people actually share food clothes and essentials. I actually had somebody get in my RV and give us a tour and all he wanted was a gallon of water. Instead, I gave him apples, bananas, chips, etc. everybody we met was extremely nice. There's a woman here named Dot and you cannot miss her signs and she has one of the more interesting, eclectic, art, collections, and stuff for sale when you come in you'll find a bunch of trashed trailers and self built houses out of wood and solar panels and it's nothing like everything I've seen before. It's kind of like being in a mad Max movie. I would definitely google slap city on YouTube. It's one of the most unusual places we've been.

For Slab City Low Road Area: This is supposed to be a legendary boondocking location. Sadly, it has no curb appeal to me. No facilities. Dirtiest place I have ever seen.

For Slab City Low Road Area: Feb. 2019: Visited “Slab City†for a few hours. During that time I saw huge piles of trash, half-hidden deposits of stinking human waste, many half-coherent individuals wandering aimlessly, and was accosted multiple times with somewhat aggressive demands thinly disguised as “requests†for money, food, water, and even some offers to trade the same for drugs or sex. This may once have been a benign “live and let live†community, and don’t misunderstand, some friendly, interesting, industrious and harmlessly quirky people do reside here. But it appears there is also a subculture of very dysfunctional and problematic denizens that are tolerated, to some degree even actively enabled, to stay here long term. This place is definitely not for the naive, unprepared, gullible or incautious. Do your homework before, and come prepared to accept and deal with the realities of the diverse range of morality belief systems and behaviors running rampant here.

For Slab City Low Road Area: Not for everyone but an interesting place for sure. Park anywhere. See East Jesus (definitely not religious), salvation mtn, breakfast at the oasis, soak in the hot pool with the hippies. Totally free. Few rules except respect your neighbor.
