For West Pinewood - MacKerricher State Park: Back here again, eight months later. For the most part, same as our last review, just wanted to add that they have been thinning out the trees (it looks like they are removing sick and dying trees) so it feels a bit more open, but still good privacy between sites. We were in site 90 as it is very open for solar in our 21’ GeoPro, and our friends were in site 92 in a 26’ Bigfoot RV, both fit well, sites are wide enough to park a tow vehicle next to a towable. Good exposure for our Starlink, two bars on AT&T. If you visit, take the time to walk South past Lake Cleone and out to the boardwalks that take you to the tide pools. Bicycles can ride the old haul road three miles down to Fort Bragg. Same as last time, rangers were super nice. Really nice double dump station, credit card operated for $10, hose was available for black tank flush. If you’re coming North on 101 you can choose between highway 128 (Cloverdale) or highway 20 (Willits), same distance within a few miles and same total time. 128 is 80 miles of twisties and straightaways with great scenery, highway 20 is 30 miles of twists, some tighter corners and the views are hemmed in by heavy forest. 128 from 101 is about 90 minutes, the thirty miles on 20 from 101 takes a full hour due to lower average speed.

For West Pinewood - MacKerricher State Park: Stayed 3/12/22 overnight. We were headed further North to Westport/Union Landing for the night, but hit bad weather and high winds. Since Westport is a completely exposed headland we ducked into MacKerricher to see if they had a spot. Luckily they had one left, so we grabbed it. No hookups, $40 a night. Very nice, friendly staff. Spaces were wide, room for our TT and our truck side by side with the awning fully extended. Would not recommend big rigs as turns on the loop are a bit tight and our 22’ overall TT was all the way back and only 8’ to the loop road. Decent spacing to neighbors, good fire pit and table. Wood purchased onsite for $10 a bundle was unseasoned, made for a challenge to get the fire going. Short walk to a lovely beach, lots of interesting rock formations and wildlife. Decent AT&T coverage. Didn’t use showers or restrooms, so no comment. It looks like they have been thinning the trees a bit, so we were glad for good solar panel exposure once the sun came out. Very quiet, would stay again.

For West Pinewood - MacKerricher State Park: We stayed for 3 nights in early March, 2020 in a 28' long travel trailer. No hook-ups available, but we were able to locate a very spacious site. Most of the sites are well spaced. The campground was not very crowded at all. Nice location not far north of Fort Bragg. Would definitely come back.

For West Pinewood - MacKerricher State Park: We've stayed here a few times, lately during autumn, so it's not too crowded. Some of the sites are very close together, and others are very spacious, if you're lucky enough to be there during the off season. The bathrooms are well stocked, recently upgraded, and clean. Showers are 5 minutes for a dollar, so bring quarters. We had a couple bars Verizon, so were happy with that! The best thing about this park is that you can walk into Fort Bragg along the Haul Road. We had a blast in town, with North Coast Brewery and Round Man's smoked meats, just a couple of the delights. We'll stay here again.
