For BLM John Day River - Priest Hole: This was our favorite night on our trip. Gorgeous location. Stargazing and moonrise were amazing. Dry camping on bank of River. Take gravel road very slowly to avoid kicking up dust or literally shaking the water up and out of your holding tanks! Dirt road down to site was small but very manageable for our 25’ Class C. We saw a larger rig there as well. River pretty and fun to wade. We were told of lots of snakes around and especially across river in tall grass and rocks. But we avoided area and didn’t encounter any. Highly recommend a night or two here. So quiet and pretty even with a fair number of other campers around. Also there is a pit toilet up above river

For BLM John Day River - Priest Hole: Beautiful, rugged sites on the bank of the John Day River. Very close to painted hills. The stargazing is beautiful! Get here early on the weekends to find a site because it fills up quickly.
