For BLM Water Canyon Recreation Area: I was SURPRISED to see how phenomenal this place was.

Linda

For BLM Water Canyon Recreation Area: Clean BLM sites with covered tables and fire pits. Vault toilets available. Our site #1 looked down over the city. There were large cricket like bugs everywhere that did not bother you but were upsetting to look at- not sure if they are just seasonal critters

For BLM Water Canyon Recreation Area: This place was a real surprise! Not far from town but surprisingly remote. Beautiful relatively flat spot with creek running by.
Free overnight on BLM land! Sites have tables and fire rings that were clean.
I boondocked here in my 24 ft. Class C motor home. Some very light traffic on dirt road. I felt safe.
Have fun be safe!

Pansie

For BLM Water Canyon Recreation Area: My 5 stars are provisional in that this is a BLM campground and not a regular RV park. But it's the nicest BLM campground that I've been to (and I've been to many). There are shade structures and picnic tables! The vault toilet is clean, well-vented and had toilet paper. This place is only 4 miles from Walmart on good roads, so it's not really that remote. But it's far enough from town for great night sky viewing. The sites are at least a quarter mile from each other, so plenty quiet and private. I'm a woman traveling alone and I felt perfectly safe overnighting here.

Sonoma Girl

For BLM Water Canyon Recreation Area: Free Camping --how awesome is that?
Wild and woolly location, popular with locals. Seems to be used for picnics, ATV's,
Motorcycling and horsemen. There was only one other RV camper besides us -- the rest of the people seemed to be there for day use. Busy in the day, but very quiet and off grid at night. Great for star gazing. Vault toilet (which was too gross to use for a gal), no water, fire rings and very dirty tables. But it was near a creek and had a beautiful backdrop with some spots offering shade. Was happy to see a deputy pass by on patrol at night...and there was a worker there in the morning picking up trash and cleaning the bathroom. Amazing scenery after a long drive in the desert - but was ultimately a bit too remote. Probably won't use this site again...but the locals were very friendly and seemed fairly safe for a family.

RDB

For BLM Water Canyon Recreation Area: There is quite a lot of traffic on the road through the canyon but not too bad. After dark it got quiet. It was a good place to spend a day and night. There are some fairly nice spots to park, but only a few that are level.
