For Decatur Wheeler Lake KOA Holida: Nice place for boating, swimming etc . We went over 4th July weekend. Promised food trucks were a joke. Not recommended if you want peace and quiet especially over a holiday weekend. People next to us apparently planned a big family get together, so we had to listen to screeching kids and adults yelling.
Our mistake for going over a holiday weekend !

For Decatur Wheeler Lake KOA Holida: This place would have earned a 5 star review if it had full hookups, but we don’t even miss that at such a picturesque and peaceful place! We stayed here 2 years ago and under new management this KOA has improved greatly! They are so willing to work with you on what type of sight you want and where. Some KOA’s are just “you get what you get when you get hereâ€. Much closer to nature than most KOA’s, and just an easy drive from I-65. Might as well get your AL fishing license because you’re gonna want to drop a line in that beautiful lake! Already planning another stay!

For Decatur Wheeler Lake KOA Holida: Not at all what you would expect from a KOA campground! The property and grounds need maintenance and care. No sewage on site and only dump site working slowly. Tried to reach office 3 times during stay and no one in the office. KOA days this property is a franchised private business and independently operated.

For Decatur Wheeler Lake KOA Holida: This KOA would be so nice if it actually had the usual KOA amenities like full hook-ups, cable, Wi-Fi (do NOT let anyone tell you they have Wi-Fi, absolutely NOT unless you want to stand in the porch of the camp office and theirs even went out). It is wooded and most sites are spaced nicely except the ones on the water. Looks more like a state park than a KOA. Level sites and generally picturesque. Fortunately we were given a beautiful site on the water (#27) BUT the picnic table (cement/unmovable) and fire ring were positioned on the wrong side of the camper so to eat outside everything had to be carried around back. We brought our grandchildren but the playground was up at the front of the park so it was a long walk from the site or you needed to drive them. Bath houses are near the front also. Very expensive considering the inconveniences, but a pretty location

For Decatur Wheeler Lake KOA Holida: Store, main gate, beach area, tent area and boat ramp areas are above average.
Once you enter through the broken gate to the campground it goes down hill quickly.
I was in site P1. Average site with power and water (no sites with sewer). The neutral on this sites 30amp outlet was bad and melted my power cable. The 50 amp outlet was full for mud from mud dobbers.
The bath house was okay but the shower was the worst I've ever used.
This was probably a great campground 20 years ago, but they will need to sink some money and sweat into it before I would consider it again.
