For Carbella Recreation Site: If you are looking for a 5 star boondocking experience, it does not get better than this! No services, but it does have well defined campsites with bear proof vaults for food storage and picnic tables, down the road vault toilets, and bumpy but reasonable gravel roads. The best part is the location - right next to the Yellowstone River and within easy driving distance of Chico Hot Springs. Thank you AllStays!

For Carbella Recreation Site: Great campsite right along the Yellowstone river. About 20 sites, many pull-throughs with picnic tables and bear lockers. No dispersed campsites. The road is potholed but we had no issues with our 34’ motorhome. If it’s full, there is another small campground a short distance south that looked less used.

For Carbella Recreation Site: Just have to say that this place is awesome… right next to yellowstone river!!! Some of the other reviews said how crappy the road is well not anymore… its gravel yes, but graded very nice… I guess during Covid they closed this done and re did it here… there is a bunch of spots for tent campers only and motorhomes/ 5th wheels… they put in bear boxes for storing your food if your a tent camper, bathrooms are decent… its really nice would def stay here again

For Carbella Recreation Site: As of June 2019 there is no fee charged for using this site. There are about 10 established camping soaces with tables and fire rings, plus a few other areas along the road that have been used as “dispersed†camp sites. There is a somewhat maintained vault toilet, but no fresh (potable) water supply (unless you choose to use the river). To confirm previous reviews: Verizon voice and data is good (but no AT&T); the road into the campground is full of deep potholes and large rocks, but as of June 2019 was negotiable even with a low clearance vehicle. The important exception to that is the small, tightly looped “turnaround†at the end of the campground access road, at the last of the several established sites. There is a deep muddy hole and some rocks that might be difficult for some rigs to negotiate. This campground appears to be very heavily used so it’s not a good idea to rely on getting a site here, at least in the summer months.

For Carbella Recreation Site: This was a lucky find for a last minute Yellowstone camping. We left the park close to dark and all the campgrounds were full. The road in was awful and super bumpy and gravel, but we managed to get our 1959 camper in. It was pretty full, but we got a spot. Didn't use the toilet so can't comment on that. Good Verizon coverage. Can't beat free either.
