For Fishing Hole Campground: We were looking for a place to stay that would be convenient to activities in Homer and on the Homer Spit. We're self-contained in our 25 foot RV and don't use the facilities. We stayed on weeknights in early August. The City of Homer operates the CG in 4 sections - 1 in Homer (Hornaday) and 3 on the Spit. One section on the Spit is for tents only (Tents). The RV sites are on the harbor side, middle of the Spit (Fishing Hole) or on the Inlet side near end of the Spit (Mariner). The sites are level gravel in full sun. They are either sites that line up the RVs (as in a gravel parking lot) or separate them with driftwood logs into distinct spaces. All sites are primitive (no hookups). There's potable water near the rest rooms. There's a dump station in the Fishing Hole section for a $15 fee above the $20 camping fee. There's good ATT and usable Verizon cell service. Some might find the spaces unpleasant. We stayed in the Fishing Hole section and found the sites pleasant with other campers respectful of space, cooperating, sharing tables, fire pits, etc. and enjoying the informality of the sites and the views. Fishing Hole was walking distance from many of the services and shops on the Spit and biking distance from others on the Spit and in town.
