Randy
For Joe Skeen Campground - El Malpais: The place looks well kept and in good shape. About ready for some leveling and rut repair but the the monsoons just beat the place up. I have a 27 ft class c, and had a slight scrape on the dry wash at the entry, so I think that’s about max length. The scenery is amazing. Only a couple bars (Verizon), and no local channels. (but who is here to sit and watch TV?) We arrived on a Monday, about 1:30, and about 1/2 full. Have seen a few more come in since. I think we like this one!

For Joe Skeen Campground - El Malpais: Go slow on the road to get to the sites. Quiet, convenient off I-40. It’s quite a place for free.

For Joe Skeen Campground - El Malpais: AMAZING!! Absolutely loved this place. Not many designated sites. Ones at the top of the hill have spectacular sunset views. I arrived around 5 ish on a Friday evening. All of the sites were taken. However since there was a wide open area where I could park my van for the night. Several other people were in that area in tents as well. Would highly recommend.

For Joe Skeen Campground - El Malpais: free. free. free. and awesome. Covered picnic tables and away from the noise. El Malpais is a fun place to hike around and explore.
The wash at the entrance to this campground would be the only roadblock for some. My newer 35ft motorhome made it fine after I unhooked the toad and pulled the hitch. Had a few inches of clearance at the tail end as the front started going up the other side.
We stayed two nights in our '16 Fleetwood Southwind 34a.

For Joe Skeen Campground - El Malpais: Nice spot. Sites are fairly large and well spaced. Each one has a new shelter on a large cement pad, fire pit and stand up grill. Road is a little rough but short and very doable in our 26 ft low hanging motorhome! Best of all it's free.

For Joe Skeen Campground - El Malpais: Nice little camp. Basic but clean. Could be tight for motorhomes.
