For Tough Creek - Boysen State Park: Much prettier at the park then it appears from the road. Non-reserved sites starts oct 1 per the sign but I was there Sept 30 and they had turned on the payment machine for unreserved sites. There is also dispersed camping for cheaper and I thought that was what I was paying for but then the machine charged the higher rate. No matter, I couldn’t figure out where the dispersed camping was anyway. I started out in a site right on the water, but it was broadside to very high winds so then I moved to one of the corralled sites that are longways to the wind. Each had a fence, a shielded picnic table, and trees and lawn between the sites. Verizon was very fast here.

For Tough Creek - Boysen State Park: I'm here kind of early in the season, but this seems like a great little campground. It's located away from Hwy 20 with easy paved access, sites with views of the reservoir, no electric, very quiet and peaceful. $17 covered my site and day use fee. I will camp here again.
