For Lake Pepin Campground: We booked this place as it is right down the street from the Laura Ingalls Museum in Pepin. We only stayed one night and really just needed somewhere to park our trailer and sleep. We were here a total of about 12 hours, mostly sleeping. However, I did not care for this place at all. When we arrived, the office was closed even though I had been told on the phone to arrive by 9. We arrived at 8:55. I called and the lady scolded me for not being at the right place. Apparently, you check in at the motel nearby. This was not explained to me previously yet she lectured me that I should have known. She was not courteous but more like a demanding parent. Further, when I asked where the motel was, she seemed exasperated telling me I passed it on the way in. Actually, I came from the other direction and we had not passed it at all. She was in a mood! Once we got to our site, the grass (mainly weeds) were very tall and harboring mosquitos. We had to wade through this and I did not enjoy it at all. It was if they had not mown for a couple weeks. The water and electricity hookups were on opposite sides of the site and we were lucky our cords and hoses could reach both at the same time. Overall, this is not a place I would want to actually vacation as it was stressful being at this campground even though it was just overnight.
