For Salthouse Branch: The first loop is higher and has less trees. The next two loops are combined and are under trees and low-lying. At the first corner near the bathhouse there is no Verizon but there is okay Verizon on the first loop up the hill and weak at the back of the last loop. I was back there and needed my booster for it to work enough for any kind of data. The park itself is quite remote, a lot of tiny roads to get there.

For Salthouse Branch: Although this is neat & clean because it’s a Corps of Engineers campground, it was the worst one I’ve ever been in for rvs. The Road around the campground has many tight curves and Numerous unnecessary speed bumps. The electric RV sites are almost all in the open, laid out like tight sardines, One after another. Each site is a 14 X 30(or longer) Rectangle made of concrete “ Railroad ties” filled with gravel with a 6x8 picnic table in that space. There’s only 3 to 10 feet of grass between sites, no trees or shubbery except for the end sites. As I ate my dinner sitting in my motorhome, I watched a fifth wheel back into the next site and scrape the picnic table along the entire length of their rig. (The angle in was too sharp to do anything else). There are numerous Army Corps of Engineers sites on Philpott lake. I suggest you take your RV to a better one such as Goose Lake which is fabulous.

For Salthouse Branch: We enjoyed camping here in our 35 ft 5th wheel on a level site of small gravel and grit. Around the sites it is grassy and open. The sites designed for RV's have 50A and water hookups. The bath house is modern and clean. The RV sites a near the boat launch and it is walking distance to the swimming beach. We got a weak Verizon cell signal here in Aug 2017. It is 30 min from stores in Rocky Mount. Overall a pleasant park.

For Salthouse Branch: Nice campground, we stayed for 6 days in a 25' motor home. Quiet, clean, friendly, helpful staff. Restrooms very clean and modern. Sites are roomy, but a bit close together. Sies 1-18 more for RVs. Roads in are hilly and curvy, particularly the last 2 miles, but we made it OK.
