For Hittle Bottom Campground: It was 102° when we pulled into the campground. There was not a soul there! There is one site that offers shade, number 1 as good late afternoon and morning shade. We parked there and just went and sat in the Colorado river. The views of the backside of Monument Valley and the surrounding cliffs are amazing. It’s a first come first serve BLM campground. We paid $10 with the senior pass. The only downside was all of the campgrounds other than one and two smelled horrible because the BLM is obviously not taking care of the toilets. If you cannot get a site here there are quite a few campgrounds along the river headed towards Moab.

For Hittle Bottom Campground: This campground is worth the extra drive past the others on this road that are closer to Moab. Much less road traffic to listen to (MUCH less), sites that are not sitting right in the road, right on the river, beautiful views, clean. Restrooms available but I can't comment on those as we did not use them. $15/night
