DSVT 
For Red Canyon Campground: We were looking for a GC in the general area that would be close to hiking and biking, and be quiet so we could enjoy a few rest days. We're self contained and don't use the facilities. We stayed over a weekend in mid-June in our 25 foot motor home.
This campground was just what we wanted. We could walk to the Visitor Center, hike the rim trail, bike or drive to a few area attractions. The big horn sheep walking through the park were a bonus. The views were gorgeous (pun intended)! We arrived late in the afternoon on a Saturday and there were several sites still available. Sites vary in size and orientation. Some have more shade than others. Most were level. There was good ATT and Verizon coverage. There's no wifi. The hosts are at Canyon Rim CG, 1 mile away.
Sheep Creek Canyon is 20 miles west and is beautiful. The Flaming Gorge Dam is 11 miles east and offers a great tour. There are several beaches and boat launches, although there are CGs closer to the FG Lake.
