For Mustang Island State Park: The RV park is not all that that great to look at, being basically a giant parking lot. But our pad was level and had good water and electric service, with two dump stations available. It has a decent shower/restroom facility, along with a nice exterior showers for coming off the beach to rinse off.
I found the layout of the spots a little odd, with the picnic benches next to each other, instead of spread out.
Mosquitos were a bit heavy with the high humidity (to be expected), and had a couple days with rain, which flooded several of the spots.
Still, this is a few minutes walking to the beach and about a 30 min drive into Corpus Christie and other surrounding places. Makes for a good home base for those needing an inexpensive place to stay while going out to fish, swim, paddle or hang out in town.
The staff was nice and friendly. Cell service was ok for out T-Mobile, and they do have free wifi, but did not test it out.

For Mustang Island State Park: Spent 5 days in May 2021 checked in and immediately went to our site. The camping are is set up like a parking Lot but everyone was respectful and very quiet. Water pressure was low but it was decent. 30 and 50 amp was available just be aware that long extension may be needed to reach water and electric. With your entry you are allowed to drive your vehicle on the the 3 mile stretch of beach. Be aware of tides and 4x4 recommended. Shower facility is awesome ladies lines are common.

For Mustang Island State Park: Nice place. Like everyone says it’s basically a parking lot with water and electric hookups. We stayed early March with 60 degrees and high winds.
In a review from a year ago, someone mentioned shower water temps. And the officials were working on it. Well, Water is still not hot! wind whips through the screen windows and the showers suck! You push a button and Luke-warm water cones out for 15 seconds and you have to push the button over and over!!! You can not control the water temp.
It’s an okay campground but nothing to write home about.
Location is great to explore the near-by towns and the beach is awesome!

For Mustang Island State Park: It’s basically a gravel lot with campers along the edge, but it’s clean, the restrooms are beautiful, and it’s so close to the beach but the dunes in between block some of the wind! The staff is really nice and overall we would stay again if we came back. Just don’t expect a nice big site with any privacy and you will love it

For Mustang Island State Park: I am following up on my previous post. I contacted the Texas park service via their website about the water temperature and cold conditions in the bathrooms and had a nice email from the park superintendent for Mustang Island. He said they were working on the issues that I had mentioned. The first time I’ve ever contacted the park service and they got back to me right away. ðŸ‘

For Mustang Island State Park: This campground sustained damage from Hurricane Harvey. There is now a new bathroom but park office is still in a trailer.
We enjoyed three pleasant days here.
As other people have mentioned this is a parking lot style campground, but there are some grassy areas between some of the spaces and if your site is on the dunes side (rather than the road side) you can watch the sun rise over the dunes. The beach is lovely and a short walk from the campground.
My only complaint is that neither I or anyone else I spoke to managed to get a hot shower in the new building. Coupled with that there are windows without glass and a very large fan which made it feel like showering in a wind tunnel!!! May feel great on a hot summer day but decidedly chilly in January.
We checked out the campground on Padre Island run by National Park service and definitely preferred this one. (Reason Bigger sites, not so remote, electro and according to other reviews Padre Island has cold showers, even luke warm is better...).

For Mustang Island State Park: as of 3-March 2019 not open since Hurricane Harvey Aug 2017.
FYI you can boondock on the beach for almost free: $12 for annual beach parking pass.
