For Monahans Sandhills State Park: Monahans Sandhills State Park was a park that we frequently visited as a child. The day use areas are exactly as I remember them. From the looks of the RV camp sites not much has changed since the 1970’s. I suspect that the West Texas oil boom is contributing to much of the decline. Each RV site shares a double sized ramada with their neighbor. Site 21 which we were in is backwards. Your front door and awning are opposite the ramada. The bathhouses are in shambles. The handicap stalls are permanently closed. In the men’s room, only one of the urinal’s is functional. The showers are athlete style in that they are wide open. The women’s sinks never had any soap. It is sad to see such a park in decline. However, we stayed 3 night as we were visiting my parents. Most of the visitor’s just stay the night as they pass through of what has become the Permian Basin industrial wasteland. I can only recommend a single night stay.

For Monahans Sandhills State Park: Water and electric next to the sand dunes - sites are on the small size but a great place for kids - cost us $23 a day to stay

For Monahans Sandhills State Park: Most sites are for smaller rigs though there are sites for larger rigs as well. Beautiful place to stay. Weather was up and down because it’s February/March but mostly nice. Rangers are terrific and helpful, if you need them. Bathrooms are nice. While there’s nowhere inside the shower to hang items, except over the wall, there is a bench and hooks directly outside the showers for that purpose. I enjoyed my stay immensely.

For Monahans Sandhills State Park: This campground is very tight. If you are looking for privacy, try to avoid campground 16-17 as the lot is tightly shared. This isn’t the parks fault but when we stayed here on December 30th we were placed to share our spot with a group of 8+ who were very un experienced campers who did not respect our rightful space. Which led us to not use it and remain in the van as we were uncomfortable being so close to a party group. When we told the park ranger in the morning, he was very understanding and reassured us that he would talk to them about their behavior. This park is beautiful and can not be compared to other sand dunes like below in the comments because like all places it is unique and has its own quirks. Bathrooms had no toilet paper and the showers do not have shelves so bring a friend to support you from the side or be prepared for your belongings to be on a sandy wet floor, however they have nice hot water.

For Monahans Sandhills State Park: March 22, 2018 - We walked in to a level powered site. Lovely weather in a very lovely park located in the middle of Oil Boom West Texas. But you couldn't see that from the park. Had fun wandering around the Sand Dunes and the sunsets were spectacular. Facilities were in good shape and the highway noise seemed very far away. Great night sky views. We stayed here in a 20' travel trailer. Would stay here again.

For Monahans Sandhills State Park: We called and asked about availability for one night. Lady was not very friendly but took our name and said there was availability. When we realized they close at 4.30 pm and we wouldn't make it we called again. Same lady asked if we had reservations, we said yes that we had called. We got a annoyed lecture that if we hadn't booked online we hadn't reserved. We're staying at another rv park tonight (midessa oil patch), the lady was super sweet.

For Monahans Sandhills State Park: Great spot and worked well for us on our way to Big Bend. Had an equestrian site res'd as that was all available at time of res. Magically assigned site 11 w power upon arrival. It was hot, so that was nice. Depending on your sun preference, you may prefer one spot vs another. We elected to stay out of the sun and cook dinner inside! Clean and quiet for us. 24' travel trailer.
