For Main - Fort Richardson SHP: We have traveled around Texas for a month…….. North, South, East and West. This was one of the quieter parks. Maybe that’s why irresponsible pet owners think it’s ok to not have their dogs on a leash. First, the things I thought could be improved upon. The loop near the parade grounds has only one restroom in the middle of the old parade grounds. There is only one toilet in there and there is no shower. There is only one bath house/shower in the entire park and it’s all the way at the other side of this large park. It’s not walking distance. The other problem that I mentioned earlier is that for the four days we were here (Sat, Sun, Mon, Tues) I did not see one dog on a leash. There were several dogs in our loop that were just wandering around with no owners or leashes and were coming in and out of our picnic table fire pit area. The positives of this park are that it is quiet compared to other Texas parks we’ve stayed in during the month. There is an old quarry about one half mile from our loop and we caught several fourteen and fifteen inch largemouth bass and Brim/Bluegill fish along with some catfish. There are some large fish in this old quarry turned fishing pond. There is a also a dumpster for the loop.

For Main - Fort Richardson SHP: Great, quiet park. Extremely clean w/ nice facilities. Plenty of trails. Nice Staff. Sites have great spacing with a nice "tucked in" view.
The playground is a decent haul from most of the sites, but walking there and back to play is a great way to eat up an afternoon.
Cellular was great with both Verizon and Sprint pulling down 10Mbps+.

For Main - Fort Richardson SHP: Beautiful & very quiet, even though the entrance is on a main state highway and on the edge of Jacksboro. Not shown on the map is a stocked trout lake (5 per day limit). Several Fort Richardson buildings are open to visit, with seasonal military reenactments. Very pleasant stay. Office has bagged ice and a self-serv firewood vending cage.

For Main - Fort Richardson SHP: Very well maintained with helpful staff. Cell service worked good since there wasn't wifi.
