For Hales Bar Marina and Resort: This place can not be rated it’s so bad. Not motor home friendly
This place is a dump. No cell service, bathrooms terrible, mostly full time campers. They do not tell you this up front. Photos on line do not tell the real story. I saw some bad reviews & didn’t think to much about. Boy was I suprised !!! Stayed one night & left. I told manager I was a pastor & I had an uncle at the point of death and we could not stay because no cell service. Asked for refund, said could not give give one. Was charged for whole week. Please take heed to reviews . Maybe they needed money more than me. From looks of things they need it.

For Hales Bar Marina and Resort: I was in a rush at the end of the day’s drive and missed the reviews here at my expense. My wife and I both looked in the bathrooms and refused to use the filthy things. There were even signs posted at the entrance doors saying if they weren’t cared for better they would be shut permanently. Mostly full-timers here. The additional (clean) bathrooms next to the registration office (about a 7 minute walk) were locked up at the same time they closed the registration office, 3:30pm! The reg. office woman was totally indifferent to us both over the phone (where I paid by credit card) and in person.
To top things off we both got a case of chiggers from our pretty riverfront site.
I cannot recommend this place!

ColtsCountry
For Hales Bar Marina and Resort: It sits along the river in a valley at an old marina, so NO cell service, neither ATT nor Verizon. Checking in, the lady could care less that we were there and didn't offer any help or suggestions. Had cable at the site but was the wrong connection at the box, so we couldn't use. Sites are very close together and lots of full-timers/seasonals (and all the extra stuff that comes with that). Lots of golf carts and kids everywhere. Even though there is a leash rule some folks just let their dogs run loose. Won't stay here again.

For Hales Bar Marina and Resort: This place blows!! Stay away!! Expensive trailer park that needs to be plowed over. Only stayed here because someone forgot to read the previous reviews, you would be better off sleeping in a Bojangles parking lot...trust me!!

For Hales Bar Marina and Resort: If I could give no stars I would. This is the first place (traveled all over country) we have ever left! Pulled in, parked, smelled like dead fish and goose poop everywhere. Bathrooms working, no TP and showers were green with mold. Bathrooms also service all the dock boats too. We came down road to KOA in Trenton, GA, beautiful and clean

For Hales Bar Marina and Resort: If your idea of a dream getaway includes camping in the middle of a dump, look no further.
I arrived at my campsite, stepped out of my truck and into a big pile of goose droppings (unbeknownst this would become a metaphor of my short-lived experience at Hales Marina). What are the odds I thought? Well, it turns out pretty good. Nearly every square yard of the campground is covered with the stuff.
While marveling at the sheer volume of waste generated by these stunningly beautiful birds, the camper next to me emerged from her trailer to warn of the angry ants running everywhere - apparently stirred up by a shovel wielding maintenance worker just an hour before.
"Thanks for the warning" I said nervously, then asked where one might find the restroom. "That's the bad news" she smirked. "It's closed for repairs, so you'll have to use the one at the office, 300 yards up that road you just came down".
So in peak season the restroom is closed for remodel and requires a vehicle or optional 10 minute hike back to the office? I have a 10 year old and I'm beginning to get the idea this is going to be a long night. In disbelief, I decided to inspect the restroom for myself. I not only discovered it was indeed closed, there was no sign of work being done. A large can full of garbage blocked the door.
In a vain attempt to call the office, I suddenly realized my AT&T cell service was flashing between 1 bar and "no signal". It was now starting to rain, so I decided to turn in for the night, watch some Netfilx and set off to find another campground at daybreak. But alas, the wifi didn't work.
On my way out the following morning, I stopped by the office. Turns out Hale's Marina doesn't give refunds to those dumb enough (like me) to pay in advance. They will however give you a certificate for a free night. This is apparently their way of holding on to at least some revenue from the exodus of campers seeking asylum at the local Walmart parking lot, or the neighboring Shellmound campground, which incidentally costs less, is where I wound up, and is about as beautiful a campground as you will ever find. Check it out.
I'm scratching my head now trying to decide if I have any enemies bad enough to gift this Hales Marina certificate to. I'm drawing a blank.
