For Cedar Pass Campground - Badlands National Park: We loved the campground and were super excited to be staying in the National Park. Yes-the sites are pull offs and no you can’t have a huge rig with massive slide outs...our little 20ft Airstream fit in our site perfectly. Also-who comes to a national park like the Badlands to hang out at the campground? We spent the day in the park and Cedar Pass made the perfect home base.

Brooklyncowgirl

For Cedar Pass Campground - Badlands National Park: As others have noted this campground is laid out for the most part with a series of pull offs. If you have slide outs this can be a problem as the sites are pretty narrow and so is the road. If all your slides are on the drivers side you’re better off on the inside facing the bathrooms then on the outside facing the cliff and prairie views. These are the non-electric sites. If you have a deep slide and want an electric hookup you could be in trouble. In addition there are these low posts designed to keep people from driving on the grass that are set at a perfect height to trap unwary RVers stabilizer jacks and steps. Yeah we got stuck. The maintenance guys told us we were the third that week. We arrived on a Monday without reservations. There were plenty of sites available. The campground host said if we wanted to stay for more than one night to go up to the lodge. We did and were able to add three more nights. Next morning however we saw a placard indicating that someone else had been given our site. Fortunately The folks at the lodge were able to fix the issue. On the plus side. The park is great and well worth putting up with the idiosyncrasies of the campground and the concession who runs it. They do give a 50% discount for senior and Access passes and the staff for the most part were very helpful. The sites have nice little sunshades over the picnic tables which is a nice touch. Yeah you have to pay for showers but it’s only 25 cents. Just check and double check everything they give you. Their system (not Recreation.gov) is complicated and error prone.

Wandering Dude

For Cedar Pass Campground - Badlands National Park: The view simply isn’t worth it. As others have said, this campground is poorly laid out. Hard to navigate as campers are lined up on both sides of the road. Facilities were disgustingly filthy and not maintained. You have to pay for showers and dump station in addition to the $40+ per night just for the site. Would not stay here again.

DK

For Cedar Pass Campground - Badlands National Park: This is in my top five places I’ve ever camped. Grass was pretty tall when we were there (May 2019) and that lent to bugs, but the morning views were the best. Spacious sites great for tents

Al Matarazzo

For Cedar Pass Campground - Badlands National Park: Although the views in this park are incredible, my family was a bit let down by this camp site. The site promised warm showers, but upon arrival both men’s and women’s showers were closed for repairs. Two of the three stalls in the women’s bathroom were closed, making the morning bathroom routine impossible. On top of all of this, the campsite seemed a bit overpriced for all the closures, $23 for a non-electric site. Definitely a great spot for views, but maybe skip for spending the night.

Campergram

For Cedar Pass Campground - Badlands National Park: Not a terrible campground, just not laid out very well. If you can manage to turn your RV to exit on the grass instead of the road it’s better. The showers are expensive—2 minutes for 25 cents. Cost me $1.50 because I needed to wash my hair also. Plus, the shower curtain was a good 6 inches too narrow for the opening, and there were no hooks for clothes. But hooks really wouldn’t help, because everything in the little stall gets wet. Everything. The handicapped shower was nice and large and more private, but it was already occupied. I thought the staff was friendly and helpful. And of course, the scenery is incredible.

OffIsland

For Cedar Pass Campground - Badlands National Park: This is one of the oddest campgrounds. Sites are essentially pull offs on both sides of one way roads. Not designed for larger RVs as many sights are tight. Not just length but width of the road. Even two smaller class c campers across from each other could block the road. We observed people having to pull in steps and mirrors to allow passage through several times. Very few elec sites. And very few level sites. This is run by a private concession and the staff is very unhelpful, almost surly.. The only reason this has two stars is it was clean and you can’t beat the view. Next time I’ll stay at one the campgrounds in Wall.
