For Whistler Gulch RV Park and Campground: Much cooler than staying at Sturgis. The campground is adequate...but kinda reminds me of a place the owner never really stays at. Things are unmaintained, bugs in pool, shrubs/branches growing next to RV sites so you people busted the branches to get their awnings down, the bathrooms sorely in need of fans and deodarizers (smells), and the wooden stairs to the office pretty rickety. Also, not NEARLY enough bathrooms for the size of the campground. It was “good enough†with super nice girl at the front desk, and clean/working laundry. We could barely get our 40ft rig in on the upper level (she should’ve known the RV sites better, as there were MANY vacant spots much larger. I never saw a maintenance person — they really need a few.

For Whistler Gulch RV Park and Campground: On short notice the week after July 4th holiday they had the only campsite in the area with full hook up available. I checked in after hours without any problems. The camp ground is clean and well maintained. We stayed two nights and it was quiet and uneventful. Trolly to and from town every 30 minutes is convenient.

For Whistler Gulch RV Park and Campground: After driving many hours to get to this destination we were told check in is not until 1:00. No one is in our site. Asked if we could go in early but they said no. Only if we paid $30 more dollars. So in this 90 degree heat, tired in a very PACKED town here we sit. Not a very nice welcome.
The site looks very tight! We’ll see if this improves.

For Whistler Gulch RV Park and Campground: Clean, grassy sites. Some leveling required. Easy access in and out with full hook ups. Water regulator required due to extremely high water pressure. Clean 24 hour laundry area. Wood burning fire pits on site. Firewood available for purchase. This place was basically all hands off by staff due to COVID precautions. Check in information was available on front door when we arrived with helpful map to site. Pool beautiful but closed due to COVID. No off leash pet area but several pet poop areas around camp. Grab a Cab taxi service to downtown Deadwood was reasonable and avoided parking fees. Trolley was not running at this time. Beautiful area with lots to do. Fun free re-enactment at Saloon 10. Kids and pets okay.

For Whistler Gulch RV Park and Campground: Stayed here in mid-July 2018. I looked at their web site and I was a little apprehensive. The park is narrow and goes back up into a hillside. HOWEVER, I booked it anyway, and was I ever happy with the choice! Yes, it is rather narrow. Especially if you are towing a 40’ 5th wheel. But, I had enough room to get in and get out of my site without any trouble. So, don't let the pic of the aerial view of the park dissuade you. They also have a bus that stops at check in to take visitors into Deadwood about every 20-30 minutes so we didn't have to drive into downtown at all.
The staff were great. Everyone was very friendly, knowledgable, and helpful. The only reason I couldn't give the park a 5 Star rating was the laundry room. It was hot, stuffy, the A/C was out of order, and they posted a sign to keep the door closed. It was a bit of a challenge to do laundry even at night. But, as we all know, things happen. So I believe that while it can easily get a higher rating from others, this was our experience. Would we go back again? No question about it, YES!

For Whistler Gulch RV Park and Campground: Made reservations in March asked for drive through and 35 ft with car for one unit and another 35 unit. Put half way up hill in spaces barely big enough for RVs and no room for car and sites were back in. Told car could go down by where trailers are parked. Was told Was told by office staff we should have emailed to get what we wanted and not called using the reservation system they set up. Also no pool again. 2nd year in row. 92 degrees today. We having been coming here for last 6 Year’s and each year gets worse. We have seen much nicer options farther south with much nicer amenities for same price. WiFi rarely works and no cable or tv here.

For Whistler Gulch RV Park and Campground: Great place to stay in Deadwood. It is about a mile from the downtown area but you can walk to it on the Rails to Trails Michelson path or the trolly comes right up the hill to pick you up. The grounds are up on a hill and there are tons of deer, bunnies and chipmunks. Restrooms are pretty clean and the spaces aren't packed in too tight. The owner, Tom, is a great guy - he knows everyone and everything about Deadwood and made great recommendations on what to see, where to find the best steak, etc. I would absolutely go here again.
