For Custer Crazy Horse Campground: Visiting South Dakota for two weeks in our motorhome. We found the Crazy Horse Campground in Custer, South Dakota. It is a very convenient location near Custer State Park, Mount Rushmore and the beautiful lakes. We read the reviews before May 2017 and was concerned. We called and spoke to the new owners and was given a tour. We booked for 8 days. Clean showers, laundry room and a great camp store. Heated pool, fire rings and prompt response to all requests. Definitely worth a stay!

For Custer Crazy Horse Campground: Drove through the area yesterday and discovered this park. From the road view we were skeptical when we arrived but so glad we looked around. The owners are outstanding and went out of their way to help us select 2 spots. Don't let previous reviews turn you off. They are extremely accommodating. We are staying 8 nights in a 40' motorhome.

For Custer Crazy Horse Campground: New owners as of May 2017, with huge changes. Stayed here four nights in 40' MH and thoroughly enjoyed it. There are some sites right by the highway without shade, but most sites are down the hill behind the office in a tall pines area - cool in the summer heat, and without any road noise. New owners are working hard to turn around the reputation, they were very friendly and helpful to us, essentially let us pick our own spot. The 50A sites are way too close together, practically touching slides, so we chose a 30A full hookup site with lots of room under the trees. Owners say they are going to restructure to add lots more 50A sites and to move the current sites apart. The park also has two dozen pretty little camping cabins. I also spoke with a couple of locals outside the park, and they said these new owners have done wonders in this season alone. You can see that the park used to be great, but it has been let go with erosion making many sites difficult. Owners just bought a tractor to start regrading; I expect that by 2018 season this place will be 5 stars.

For Custer Crazy Horse Campground: Loud, near hwy, dirty, dumpster never emptied during our 4 day stay. Unfriendly staff, owner refused refund when we asked to leave after day 1 ( of 4 day stay). Lights were never turned on at office or campground after dark. Terrible place...GSC and AAA should reconsider giving approval.

For Custer Crazy Horse Campground: Loud, right next to busy highway, very unfriendly and unhelpful staff, messy dirty looking campground with mostly dirt grounds, sites too narrow to put out awning, and the office person stuck all the RVs (3) right next to each other even though the rest of the sites were empty (for a reason). They charge you extra if you think you'll use your air conditioner. Wifi doesn't work. Luckily there is 4G wireless from Verizon in the area. I wouldn't go here again.
