For American Creek Campground: This was a wonderful park. I imagine that during the summer and weekends, it probably stays full, but we were there on a Monday and Tuesday nights, and the park was only about a third full. There is a beach, plenty of walkways, lots of grass and trees (something we didn’t take for granted after crossing Montana and Wyoming). The sites were level and paved, and if we’d been inclined, there were bike and boat rentals. The little town of Chamberlain is within east walking distance. We stayed two nights instead of the one night we’d planned. Very nice!

The Nelsons
For American Creek Campground: Nice enough. Pretty location. Unfriendly check-in staff. No free wifi - unheard of nowadays. We’ll go back, but won’t feel welcome.

Joy
For American Creek Campground: Nice little campground! Check in went smooth! Got a pull through site close to the end of the day! Location is on the River, had a great play area and beach for the kids. Bathrooms and showers were clean. If we had the time we could have utilized kayaks and bike rentals. Nice sunset on the River!

The Bodines
For American Creek Campground: The girl behind the counter seemed quite perturbed that she had to be there. When I called she made it seem as if they were full. When I got here it was about 1/3rd full. She assigned us a site that was too small for our big rig. The campground is nice enough. The lake is fantastic!

Serena
For American Creek Campground: Have you ever seen those movies where you go to a ghost town & try to check in, and the clerk pretends that it’s crowded, but no ones there? Well, that’s this place. It was nearly IMPOSSIBLE to call & make reservations — which added to the illusion that this place must be packed — but it was rated so high, i was determined. When we finally got here, it was deserted, and just one lone girl at the counter that looked irritated that she had to check us in (?). Since the campground was deserted, we asked for a nice spot with shade. She put us in full sun, no trees. So I went back and politely asked for a shady spot. She said “we’re all fullâ€. Thinking maybe everyone pulls in late...i just let it go. There was NO ONE HERE. The campground was about 1/4 full..PLENTY of shady spots. I’d love to give this beautiful area a higher rating, but couldn’t due to the staffing. When you get here (and you should, cuz it’s beautiful) don’t check in until you select a spot...cuz shes too lazy to do it later.

Wanderer
For American Creek Campground: Love this place. We stayed 2 nights with views of the river! Beautiful sunsets! Rented a pontoon boat at the American Creek Marina to get out on the river. Within walking distance to town.
We will be back!

George
For American Creek Campground: Don’t understand how anyone could rate it a five star. That’s the reason we stayed here. If you want lots of trees, no sewer, and mud this is the place for you! Yes it rained yesterday and it has great views of the river, but the campsites are not really designed for big rigs. I know neighbors will vary but we had barking dogs all night and woke to the sound of momma ever 3 seconds. Not much sleep is probably part of the reason for the review, but this is no more than a three!
