For KOA Journey Newberry Sumter: We called a week before arriving to book a site for a month. It was 900. The lady ask the size of our camper and we told her 44 ft. On the day of arrival we called and told them we were going to be late checking in. They assured us that it was going to be ok and our site information would be in a box outside the office because they closed at 6pm eastern time. Once we arrived on site we stopped at the office as instructed and got our packet. The put us in a pull through site 34. It was small and I could not get my big rig in that spot. So after making several attempts and scraping the side of my camper a lady and a man came out to help. I had to leave the park and come back in as the roads inside the park are extremely tight for a big rig. When I came back they put me in sit 36 that was a little bit better. I was able to get into the site but I was not able to park my truck at the site because they had just enough room for my RV. I had to park in a Viator’s spot down the road and walk to my RV.
Other than that the staff was super nice and accommodating. Loved the notifications they send out via text and email explaining the events for the week. Just wished I could have had a spot that fit my rig and truck. As there was several but never was offered those.

For KOA Journey Newberry Sumter: The staff is excellent and very friendly. We’ve stayed here a few times over the past couple of years for a single night. This was the first time we’ve had an issue with trees needing to be trimmed, especially when exiting. There is an overgrown evergreen along the side of their exit road inside of their park that scrapes the side of the rigs. You would think they would be more considerate of people with expensive rigs not getting scratches and scuffs. Also, the site we were in, as well as some others we saw, needed to have their branches trimmed. It’s not uncommon for ants to climb down the tree and low hanging branches invite unwelcomed guests. Until they can trim their trees, I doubt we will return.

For KOA Journey Newberry Sumter: Very nice campground that is clean and the office staff is very nice and helpful.
The only reason I gave a 4 instead of a 5 is that a man on a golf cart who works for the KOA drove by our site at 8:45 pm and asked me if I had been in the pool earlier. I replied that I hadn’t. He then said that someone had broken their umbrella at the pool and they were looking for who might have broken it. Both me and my wife were walking earlier and we both saw a gust of wind turn the umbrella and table over and the kids in the pool got out of the water and set it back up and then cranked it down so it wouldn’t happen again. When I told him this, he replied “NO, that couldn’t have happened!†I told him again that we had seen it and he angrily replied “That couldn’t have happened!†Well I saw what I saw and was just trying to help, but clearly I must be a liar and a customer liar at that.
I hate that a good visit was spoiled with poor customer service/communication.
I don’t like being called a liar!

For KOA Journey Newberry Sumter: This an excellent, manicured KOA. Staff was very helpful. Laundry is the cleanest we’ve seen in a year and very reasonably priced! Highly recommended!

For KOA Journey Newberry Sumter: We just stayed one night on our way to Tennessee. The staff is super friendly, the bathhouse is nice and clean, laundry was a nice plus. It was a Saturday night and they had live music in the pavilion which was nice. There's a little store attached to the office. It was a little rainy and there was a lot of puddles and mud. I know the rain is out of their control, but wish there were more gravel used to smooth out the muddy areas. We have a 38 foot travel trailer and it fit in the pull through, but not with the truck. Which was a bummer since we weren't planning on unhooking since it was just a one night stopover. When making your reservation, I suggest adding a couple feet to your rig length to get a site that's long enough. The staff was really nice and kept apologizing for the site. They were pretty booked up so no other options were available. We camped at Newberry / I-26 / Sumter NF KOA in a Travel Trailer.

For KOA Journey Newberry Sumter: Very pleasantly surprising stop! We booked online and then checked in after hours (both very easy), and then were greeted by name when the owners were out doing their evening rounds! We could tell they take a lot of pride in park upkeep and the landscaping was beautiful with a lot of tasteful personal touches. The laundry room was great with 3 washers, and 3 dryers, one of which was a huge hotel style that dried super fast! Would highly recommend this park for a quick stop or very peaceful longer stay!

For KOA Journey Newberry Sumter: New owners who are friendly and accommodating. This may be the cleanest and most squared away campground I’ve ever stayed in. I highly recommend it!
