For Colleton State Park: Nice small park and campground very close to I-95. A bit of road noise from adjacent US-15. Tall trees scattered about with very few smaller trees and no shrubbery between sites. The mostly small E/W/S sites are sand or stone, oriented to provide some privacy, and kept clean by the host. Another reviewer mentioned that site 15 is level, but we’re in that site and it isn’t. After a quick walk, looks like about half the sites are level. Sites are quite different - some wide and short, others very narrow, a couple long enough for a moderately sized rig, some pull throughs. Bathhouse is well cared for and very clean. Nothing much to do in the area except paddle on the river or head to Charleston (hour drive). The office was closed when we arrived, but the host was present to hand us our tag. Mid-March; trees have already leafed out and Azaleas are in full bloom.

For Colleton State Park: This Campground was closed not that long ago for a total upgrade. Loop road is freshly paved and sites are spacious and level. Sewers were added and the bathhouse feels new. South Carolina now requires at least a two night stay when making reservations online or using the central reservation number. Single nights can be reserved by calling the park directly For this park we were told to call 12-1 when ranger has office hours - or leave a message. The rest of the time he is frequently working outside Site pricing varies depending on how busy the park is Once ~ 1/2 the sites are reserved the price goes up. Only exception is if you are only staying one night - then the price is always higher - currently $56.
This is a great campground and very convenient to I95. We did not notice any road noice.

For Colleton State Park: A little hidden gem of a state park. Very small only 25 sites. Park boarders the Edisto River with easy access for canoeing, kayaking or swimming. Sites 1-9 are near a somewhat busy roadway and traffic noise can be heard most of the day. There are a few select sites that boarder the River. Most sites are back-in but a few are pull-thru. If your traveling I-95 in South Carolina and need a nice place to spend the night or a weekend this is the place.

For Colleton State Park: Did walk up on a rainy day. The ranger was out and there was a list of sites to pick from up. They were almost all available, I picked 11 which directly backs up on the river and overlooks the trail to walk down to the waters edge. Everything was impeccable, the bathhouse was warm on a cold day and plenty of hot water. Excellent Verizon signal.

For Colleton State Park: Colleton was super conveniently located for us to make day trips to both Charleston and Savannah while not breaking the bank ($20/night). Some of the negative reviews on here seem to be based on the previous hosts, as our hosts were the most active I've seen in just about any park constantly scooting around on her golf cart looking to help wherever she could while on the hunt for any kind of ant or wasp nests to destroy.
The park itself is tiny and the loop road through it for the sites is pretty narrow and bumpy, but manageable if you just take your time. Electric, water + and easy to get in and out of dump station included.

For Colleton State Park: We did walk up campsite at Colleton State Park campground for few days. Site#1,3,5,7 is right next to busy Hwy-15 so traffic noise will be notable, although other sites are farther with some trees in between, so the traffic noise will be slightly dampen but not by much. Fortunately, our trailer has good sound insulation so traffic noise is bearable. All sites are back-ins, with exception of site#1 is pull thru. Since the slope starts from Hwy-15 and lower to Edisto River, all camp sites are affected by this, so leveling is a must. This is also the way rain runoffs will go, so choose your site wisely. They even have 1 cabin with AC on the premise. Electricity/water hook up may need extension on some rigs. Bathroom is clean and functional thanks to camp hosts. A friendly ranger will tell you what sites are available and be the only one collecting camping fee. He is doubled as dog Santa Claus, cheerfully pull out a bag of dog treats and give your well behaved dog a treat or two. He always busy doing something; fix electrical outlets, replacing AC unit at cabin... so if he is not at his station, just pull into a available site said on their website. The ranger will make his round to you. Dumpsite and trash bins are conveniently located at the exit. No obvious deer tick, but wet ground and mosquitoes go hand-in-hand, so we used DEET to fight off the pesky insects. Camping fee are different for Fri/Sat to other days, so we averaging $22/day which very reasonable. Will stay again if coming back this way.

For Colleton State Park: 36ft class a Tight road around the campsites but manageable. Road noise not so great but tapers off as nightfalls . Can swim in the ediso river . Clean but old and dated shower house. My site was #11
Not great that the host has 2 vehicles a box trailer and his camper and miscellaneous things on his site , kinda ruins your view from this site , unless you have a back window which will have the best view of the river. Other campers seem to reduce their walk to the river by cutting between site #11 and the host site instead of the walk way just on the other side of the host.
Overall Campsite 8
Hook-ups 7
Cell service 7 Verizon 2bar lte sprint same
Showers 6
Close to things 5
After a couple days I have to revise my review.
This state park doesn't have any standards. Campers are allowed any trash outside their tents , one camper has been here as long as we have if not longer and has every piece of trash surrounding his tent you could imagine. Looks like a refugee camp. The host is among the laziest I've seen yet, we lost power one night and when I saw him I said" so are we all out of power?" he said yep. I asked if he was gonna call the power company and he said " I recon the park ranger would " not I'll call the park ranger and have him check on it . I just think it should have been answered better. I said earlier in my post he had 2 vehicles but no there's a third. He has one dog he leaves outside all the time which is really nice because it barks at every thing and another small dog he lets shit not 10 feet from the empty dog poo bag holder asking responsible dog owners to clean up after its pets. I'm not sure what they're job at a camp ground is but I'd imagine it would involve more than watching tv inside the camper all day.
It is just disappointing this place could be better if only the effort was put in.
