For Tiger Cove Campground: This is by far the worst place we’ve ever stayed in. When we booked our 2-night stay, we went by the one review that gave this place four stars, but now I see that it was from back in 2010. The last 12 years have apparently not been kind to Tiger Cove, since I didn’t see “rustic”, I saw dilapidated, dirty and sad. The roads are atrocious with bits of old pavement separated by washouts and large rocks. I missed the turn to my campsite because where the campground map said a road should be was just an overgrown jeep trail, but the “road” I had to take to get back to my spot was only better because there weren’t weeds covering all the rocks and gullies. The site itself was extremely unlevel, but I’ve been in worse. The bath house was nothing short of horrifying, looking like it hadn’t been cleaned or painted since the Johnson administration (Andrew, not Lyndon). When showering in even a nice bath house, I typically wear flip flops. I wouldn’t shower in this place wearing hip waders. And then the ant infestation happened. We went out to lunch and returned to find our dog’s food bowl crawling with ants, with more on the floors and starting up the walls. We called the “manager” to complain, but he seemed really sketchy and refused to give he his name. Tiger Cove deserves no stars, but I gave it one because we did end up getting a full refund, the power was reliable and the water pressure was good. While the ants were invading our RV, we were visiting a nearby Army Corps of Engineers campground with beautiful lakeside campsites for much less than Tiger Cove, although without sewer hookup. We know where we’ll stay on our next visit to Lake Hartwell and it won’t be Tiger Cove.
