For Deschutes River State Recreation Area: Lush green grass on the edge of the river. Site A04 and some others are very short but work for or 25 foot Navion. The train noise would bother a light sleeper but wasn't a problem for us. Park is clean. A good place for us to spend a night.

For Deschutes River State Recreation Area: Beautiful grounds with great shower facilities and laundry. Great spots along the river. You will pick up some road noise and train whistles (around twice a day, none during the nights we stayed). Nice shade trees and grassy areas.
No black water dump, grey only.

For Deschutes River State Recreation Area: Beautiful place adjacent to Deschutes River and access to some great trails. I would like to come back here for fly fishing. A cool old dirt road on east side of park and above camping is great for hiking or mountain biking. This trail/old road parallels above river and is very scenic.

Camp host location is poorly marked for check in. I later saw that there was a small sign "camp host" on shed immediately upon entry when you are focused on a couple of other road signs. Grumpy camp hostess, but I won't rate the park less for this since they are transient volunteers.

On the funny side, the State Parks check-in process here seems comically bureaucratic. Fill-out mimeograph tag for required information, you keep original, copy remains attached to tag, also complete another tab on tag that needs similar information, this tab needs to be detached and inserted with money into tag that also serves as a cheesy envelop, "envelop" that still has attached flapping duplicate copy with information is inserted into post (aka iron ranger). Forced me to read directions repeatedly. I have this feeling like I still may have gotten a "critical" step wrong. Reminds me of stories I've heard of being in the old communist Soviet Union where you did things to follow "rules" with multiple nonsense steps...one mistake and back to the end of the line. "No soup for you!"

Lots of primitive camping spots and many back-in spots for RV's. Only electric and water hook ups and no dump stations in park. Bathrooms and showers are clean.
Fair bit of train noise, but this didn't bother me. Overall nice place to stay!
