For Cape Lookout State Park: Road in was beautiful, but winding as others have said - I didn't mind it. Looks like there are a lot of trails around the area. We stayed on loop B. There are some sites with vegetation between then, and some not. Everything was clean, nice bathrooms and showers. Star of the show is the beach! Wide fluffy sand beach that goes on for miles.

For Cape Lookout State Park: Typical medium-tight sites but very beautiful, undeveloped, broad beach with waterfalls to the south and 1-2 miles stretch to the north. No sites have beachfront per se and there is a small dune separating the campground from the beach. However, we could hear the surf from out site in the open part nearest the dune. I imagine you would not hear much in the wooded sections which is most of the park. Bathrooms were old, functional, clean - 3 stars average state park quality. Go here for the beach.

For Cape Lookout State Park: Today loops C and D are open. Trails are closed due to hazardous trees. Beach access is easy and wonderful, but because of erosion access points are spaced out. From what I saw sites with hookups are smallish and close together. I am self contained so I opted for a very nice tent site. The tent area sites have good division. It was very quiet. I would stay here again.

For Cape Lookout State Park: The campground has a few negative details, none of which are very important if you are here to enjoy some of the most beautiful beaches and forests you can find on the west coast. One detail not mentioned in other reviews is the RV Dump Station. It is on a side loop of the entrance road to the park. It is accessed without needing to pass through the campground check-in booth or the Day Use area. There is one waste inlet in a concrete apron below ground level so gravity dumping is easy. Rinse water is provided. A separate freshwater spigot is about 25 feet forward of the waste inlet. The dump site is closed “In Winter” according to the Oregon state park website, so a call to the park would be needed to confirm exact dates of closure. This park is close in road miles to Hwy 101 but most of the road is narrow, winding, and will feel like a roller coaster ride if you drive near the speed limit. There are almost no turnouts or places to pass or pull over. It’s worth the drive, but expect the drive to take longer than you might expect.

For Cape Lookout State Park: We stayed the night before Thanksgiving. The Park was mostly empty and all we wanted was electric hookup. It was getting dark when we arrived and learned that tent sites were $21.00, electric and water sites were $31.00 and electric, sewer and water sites were $34.00. There is only one electric and water site in the entire park and that section was closed for winter. We paid $34.00 to park with electricity for 12 hours. We were more than a little disappointed after having stayed at many other Oregon state parks over the years that were a much greater value. Driving through the park the next day was an even ruder awakening. All of the campsites were jam packed against each other. There was very little privacy because the sites were so close together and the vegetation was sparse. If you’re going to camp your way up or down 101 you would be best to bypass this one unless you like togetherness.

For Cape Lookout State Park: The ride from Hwy 101 via Cape Lookout Road ( going north to the park ) was very scenic, steep and lots of curves. Once is enough. Full hookups available. Older shower house. Paved sites. Loop D 2-17 is full hookups. D5 allows Dish satellite signals. It's a challenge to get down to the beach because of the rocks on the sand dunes. Verizon LTE almost full bars. Another nice Oregon State Park.

For Cape Lookout State Park: Right on the beach. Park is nice. Bathrooms had showers. Some bathrooms were closed for repairs. Our site had power, water and sever. Site also had a fire ring. Wood was 5 bucks a bundle and ice was 2 dollars a bag. Beach is nice. Camped here in July.
