For Bastendorff Beach County Park: Entrance street easy to miss. It’s residential so slow down. It’s best to have a reservation before staying. Staff may not be in office since they have duties throughout park. Camp host may be off duty. We had a hard time finding anyone at check in so we just drove to our site using online map and camped. Another woman without reservations was driving around trying to find staff so she could get a site for the night. She could not make same day reservation by calling the County. Sites are fine but several are not level. We’re 36’ MH with toad & had no problem with our back-in site. Due to trees, brush & distance it’s unlikely to have views from site but this also adds privacy. Cell service phone ok. No WiFi. Some TV with antenna. There is a group camping area, kids playground, good restrooms, nice beach, quiet & safe area. About half the price of very nice nearby commercial RV parks.

For Bastendorff Beach County Park: A very nice campground with spacious sites. Tall trees give plenty of shade. Gorgeous view of the ocean and a short walk to the beach. Nearest town is very small with a few stores and restaurants, two miles away. Coos Bay is several miles further. Clean. Bathrooms are fine. Felt safe. The only negative is the ship signal sound from a nearby jetty where boats and barges come and go, that sounds every 30 seconds, 24/7. It’s not loud, just always there, over and over. But you get used to it. We would stay there again.

For Bastendorff Beach County Park: Clean sites, private, beautiful, and very close to gorgeous beaches and state parks. Bathrooms near group campground were better than those below, perhaps newer. Would stay here again. Cell service was just ok at campsite 74.

For Bastendorff Beach County Park: We spent a night here a week ago. It is our second time stopping for a night. The park is pretty and woodsy with E/W sites but no full hook-ups. Unlike the nearby state park, we had good Verizon signal here. Also, unlike the other park, there is a dump station here. Park staff are friendly and helpful. Both times we felt very safe and saw families staying around us. Bastendorf is superior to some of the other county parks we have seen. There is a nice play area for children but beach access requires a short drive. The beach itself is very nice. We also looked at an open area down the road not far from the park (right next to the channel into Coos Bay) as a possible area to dry camp. We did feel that that area might not be safe at night. During the day, fine.

For Bastendorff Beach County Park: I really enjoyed this park. With all do respect, I have no idea why the other reviewer felt unsafe.
We pulled up without a reservation (oops!) but the gentlemen in the office were super nice about it and got us right in a great spot.
The spots aren’t particularly level, but they’re very pretty - lots of trees, ferns, and soft moss. You can hear the ocean at night if you open the windows and there’s a gorgeous view of it over by the big playground (which my son loved).
The beach access is just a quick drive/walk down the hill and it’s wonderful! Little shops/food in Charleston are great as well.
Overall, we definitely enjoyed our stay.

For Bastendorff Beach County Park: Felt unsafe and left right away. It's a $20 a night County Park with extremely outdated facilities and strange (probably intoxicated) staff. The guy from office wanted to collect cash with no receipt, but camp host was friendly and offered help with choosing a site. Homeless barefoot people were hanging around playground, approaching kids. Again, feels unsafe and we left. AT&T has 1 bar.
