For West Side - Cayuga Lake State Park: May 2025: Stayed in one of the many west-side loops and was totally amazed at how quickly most all of the sites turned into partly flooded mudholes after just one day of moderate rain. Luckily my site 716 had a slightly raised gravel pad just long enough for my 21-foot Class B van. Since most people had trailers which took up any little gravel patch their site had, they had to park on the grass, and many got a lesson in how quickly a big heavy pickup truck can dig itself into a mudhole. The tent campers were the most miserable and many left before nightfall. Other than that the campground is an ok place to stay along the way to somewhere else more interesting. The dump station is well designed with rinse water and potable freshwater available. Most sites have at least some shade trees. Parks staff was friendly and tried their best to accommodate people with flooded sites by finding them alternate sites if possible. There are some nearby natural areas with good trails that would be nice hikes in good weather.

For West Side - Cayuga Lake State Park: Stayed on the West side for three nights immediately after Memorial Day. We were amazed how quite the campground was. Great place to relax, ride bikes and explore the area. No hookups but a dump station is available. Bathrooms and showers are outdated but super clean. The garbage should have been picked up more frequently but other than that a great campground.

For West Side - Cayuga Lake State Park: Cayuga Lake State Park is divided into two sections with Hwy 89 running through the middle. Sites in the East side are adjacent (not next to) the lake and have electric (no water) - there are only about 30 sites on this side and they are very close to Hwy 89. We stayed on the West side (not adjacent to lake) which has many more sites (dozens) but no electrical at all. Water at spigots and several bathrooms/bathhouses. Sadly this campground suffers from neglect and inattention. I say sadly because this area in general (the Finger Lakes) is beautiful and has lots to do for all ages. The campsites have not been updated in a a long time, sunken tipped over fire rings and warped dirty picnic tables. Many sites are also very close together with little to no privacy. The camp map doesn’t show this but the southern side of the west campground is immediately adjacent to a golf course. Golf balls came flying through our site and unusually rude golfers then came tramping into our site looking for their balls without asking permission or apologizing in any way. Worst of all there were no rangers or any other managers to be seen in the west side of the park - we had to go to the east side to register which was no big deal but after dark the lack of supervision was a real problem. Campers were tossing firecrackers and quiet hours (10pm-7am) were completely ignored, loud music playing at a couple of sites until after 1am! Visitors were coming and going in cars until after midnight. We were in a camper and were able to close the windows to just a crack at our bedtime and sleep but the people in a tent in the site next to us broke down their tent and campsite at around midnight and threw all their stuff in their car and left - I think they had given up on any chance of a nights sleep. I would not camp here again, the noise was bad but considering how wild things got we didn’t even feel safe in this campground.
