For Chenango Valley State Park: large nice park that is a 5 minute drive to Binghamton. Older bathhouses but I appreciated the creatively rigged rope pull showers vs the usual button press ones.

For Chenango Valley State Park: Very nice state park. Three named camping areas: one with no hook ups “Sunrise†tent camping), one with electric hookups “Pine Bluff†(50/30/20 on one pole) and the largest area “Chipmunk Bluff†which has three loops some with electric and some no hook ups. There are no sites with water but there are plentiful water fill taps in each camping area. The no hook ups are $15 and electric are $23. There is also an annoying “reservation fee†of $9 for each reservation regardless of your length of stay. These prices are for the most part quite reasonable for a well maintained park with simple but clean bathhouses, level and mostly shaded sites, hiking trails and two small lakes (no campsites are lakeside). The campsites are clean and - even during a very rainy spring - not too muddy and lots of grass. Some campsites much roomier than others so if you can consult a map before booking that would be helpful. We found the electric hookups a little far away from the most level area of our site and needed to use an extension cord. There are dumpsters near the bathhouses and a recycling program. The park seems to have a good level of security and quiet hours/generator hours were enforced. A year or two ago this park did a big renovation hauling tons of white sand in and creating a lovely sandy beach on one end of one of the lakes. This lake is not as deep as some and even on Memorial Day weekend (opening weekend for the beach) the water was warm enough to swim, the kids just loved it. They also added a splash pad feature and concession stand near the beach. This is a very popular park so weekend reservations go fast, it isn’t as busy during the week. Most of the sites are open mid May to Labor Day, a small section of the campground is open through Early October.

For Chenango Valley State Park: Did not reserve first, as website said there were plenty of walk up sites. Was encouraged to drive around the open sites and pick the one we wanted. Lucked out, as there was a dog show there that weekend, another day and the spots would have been filled. Nice level spots, not paved. Mostly all wooded. Fire ring and picnic table were in rough shape, but we cooked on a grill and ate inside. Very quite, despite many families with young children. $23.75 for electric site. Boathouse was closed, so couldn't rent the kayaks. Very pleasant experience, would definitely go back for some hiking and kayaking.

For Chenango Valley State Park: Another beautiful state park. Plenty of trees for all day shade. Trails along the Chenango river. Asphalt roads, rocky mostly-level sites, but power posts on the wrong side?! Water stations thru out. Some sites were muddy on low sides from so much rain. Sporadic cell service. Bathhouses are convenient, clean enough, dish washing sinks outside. However, push button showers that last maybe 15-20 seconds with lukewarm water, and separate hot and cold sink faucets that need holding open, well, thus my only 4 star rating.

For Chenango Valley State Park: Bad info on dates. Not open year round. Closed for season when we stopped on 10/21/13.
