For Black Canyon Campground: Great proximity to Santa Fe. But this is not a great place to take bigger rigs. The roads can be narrow in places and the campsites are not overly large and not always level. No water. The dump is close but has no rinse water and requires someone from the ranger station to open the gate. . The bathrooms are fine. There appears to be some long term residents but they were not a problem. Very popular so book ahead or hang onto your site over a weekend. Nice and cool but also slow for the sun to hit the area.

For Black Canyon Campground: Great FS campground, large sites, generator hours 8 am - 10 pm. Beautiful sites, mostly shaded, running up the side of a mountain. Heavily used, about half reservation and half first come first served - those sites were hard to come by and we saw one person’s site be “stolen” by someone else. Camphosts do the bare minimum. Only reason this isn’t 5 stars is because there’s NO WATER here at all, and even up the road at the state park, water has to be had from a ranger station during certain hours. State Park maintains a dump station but it has a very rough entry route (we grounded our hitch, ouch.) We camped here in a 31’ Class A, needed a few leveling blocks but otherwise not bad. Saw several larger rigs including 40’ Class A’s and a few 5th wheels. You’re about 20-25 minutes from the Santa Fe Plaza here, and if you need connectivity, a shortish trail to the state park lands you at a wi-fi hotspot, good for 30 minutes a day unless you want to pay for more.

For Black Canyon Campground: Very nice National Forest campground. Some sites are small and about half are first come first serve. Asphalt pads, fire pits, pit toilets. There was no water when we stayed there. You need to bring your own. Very clean, nice location close to Santa Fe. We were on our way from AZ to CO and this was an easy detour for a comfortable place to stay.

For Black Canyon Campground: Stayed here NOV16 in my 17ft. Trailer. Real nice Camp Ground but not very many "unreserved" sites so plan ahead if you can. Great base of operations for exploring Santa Fe area. No Showers, beautiful setting

For Black Canyon Campground: We stayed in black canyon for a few nights. The first night was a walk up and the noise from the road was terrible all night. Then we moved to a spot on up into the campground and it was perfect. Inexpensive to stay and awesome spots. We already are planning our next trip for 2015 with all the family. Overall would recommend this campground!
