For Elephant Rock Campground: Spent 6 nights at Elephant Rock which is 3 miles east of Red River, NM. Elephant Rock is in the Carson National Forest and is operated through the National Park Service. There are 2 other National Parks within a mile or so of Elephant Rock and across the highway, they are June Bug and Fawn Lake which are both on the Red River. June Bug is closest to Red River and is a first come first serve campground, and Fawn Lake has a lake for fishing, both are next to each other. Fawn Lake was totally booked so we decided to stay at Elephant Rock. We booked 6 nights and with our park pass the rate was great. This campsite has blacktop roads and pads and is the most spacious campground of the three. No utilities but 2 bathrooms are available for the 21 sights and 2 faucets so come prepared. We really enjoyed this campground and will definitely stay here again. It was very pristine. The hosts, Tracy and Terry, were very friendly and helpful. We stayed in Lot 12,. It was perfect!
