For Lake Sakakawea State Park: Camped two nights Sun-Mon Sep 18-19, 2022 w/o reservations; lots of availability. Large, private campsites, great views of BIG Lake Sakakawea. Modern and clean bathrooms/showers. Some hiking and lots of boating opportunities; mainly a power boat lake but we did find some protected bays that were nice for kayaking.

For Lake Sakakawea State Park: What a beautiful campground! All sites are level & well maintained. Spaces were large and spaced apart so you weren't on top of each other. Each site has a fire pit and a huge grassy area. Bathrooms were clean & well maintained. They obviously take pride in this campground! Lots of opportunity for shoreline hikes and water activities.

For Lake Sakakawea State Park: Undoubtedly one of the nicest parks we have ever camped in. The sites where built by professionals - all level and well drained. The new bath house was just opened and it was great. Oh, the few staff we met were welcoming and proud of their park and employer, a truely refreshing attitude as we approach the end of a long summer season...enjoy your stay as we did.

For Lake Sakakawea State Park: We were looking for a place to spend a couple of quiet days. We're self contained and don't use the facilities except for an occasional shower. We camped here on the weekend before Labor Day.

This is a large, beautiful campground on a peninsula in Lake Sakakawea. There are several distinct loops throughout the park. We stayed at Fishing Point which is primitive - no hookups. The sites are huge, grassy, no shade and all are right on the lake. The sites were not full over the weekend. The Far Loop sites are also primitive and most are large with good views. The Elbow Loop has large, gravel pad sites and water/electric. Sites along the perimeter have nice views. Some are pull throughs. Some of the Van Hook sites had nice views. The Sanish Loop had water/electric and had mostly long, narrow sites and felt crowded.

The park is meticulously maintained. The staff was helpful and friendly. Despite signs, there was no usable wifi. There's good ATT and Verizon cell coverage.

The park is a hub for boating. There are small boats for rent. There are hiking trails throughout the park and a swimming beach.
