Being Human RV
For Onslow Beach Campsites: Great beach, brand new clean washers and dryers for $1.50, nice spots. It’s about a 10 minute drive to commissary and 30 minutes from sneads ferry and Jacksonville. Full hookups for $30-35/night and dry camping for $12. Friendly camp hosts and reservation staff. Sometimes loud ranges nearby and tons of helicopters but I love the noise!

For Onslow Beach Campsites: Stayed 3 nights (Tues-Thurs). Check-in was quick. Sites are too close to on another. We weren’t on sardine row, but even in the back circle it was crowded. Was issued WIFI password but no signal found, so don’t count on it. Got a cable box but our line was dead (site 28). The bathrooms while dated, were functional-requires key card access to get in. Marine Mart was helpful for forgotten items and ICEEs. Mosquitoes are thick here. Place was full up, no empty spots. The beach is great, friendly and watchful lifeguards. Lots of see shells. Found a sharks tooth or two. For the $33 per night for full RV hook-up + working cable/WiFi is about right, but like I said cable and WiFi didn’t work. Staff offered no recompense for these issues. We would stay here again.

For Onslow Beach Campsites: A kind of plain Jane campground in a spectacular beachfront setting. No shade but each site has a shelter over the picnic table. No WiFi on site and cable was useless. Bathhouse was fairly modern. On our site the cap for the sewer was smaller than the sewer pipe so there was no way to cover the opening. Rates a bit higher than most military. A mix of wonderful and mediocre.

For Onslow Beach Campsites: Wonderful campground. We will be back. Close to the beach, clean and quite for a military campground. Mini-mart close by is GREAT! It closes too early. Covered picnic tables that sit on new concrete pads is very nice. Maintenance seems to be in the area a lot keeping things working well. The downside: the "free wifi" ONLY works on the office porch. No external antenna to push the signal and it doesn't look like one is coming in the near future. The "free cable" works with some playing around with the box they give you. Newer campers and the instructions don't seem to link up. Most of the campers while we were here give up on trying. Time to upgrade and get rid of the cable boxes they supply. Your water supply is located in your neighbor's site, but works well. If coming to the NC Coast this military campground is MUCH nicer than Ft Fisher. Also much better customer service.

For Onslow Beach Campsites: Private Beach
Location, location, location... that's why I rate this one 4 stars! In off-peak, it is like having your own private beach. This was our first time to stay here, and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. I found there to be ample biking and running, and the beach is full of shells, shark's teeth, and even found some sea glass. There's a MCX on the corner. The campground is small, and the sites are tight with no frills. However, they do have full hook-ups. The sites are all back in, and we managed just fine with our 43 foot coach. There's also a bridge that you occasionally have to wait for when coming to or going from the campground. The bridge has to rotate to let certain watercraft pass. Also, be advised that you must be military or retired military to stay here... and with that also know that it can get quite noisy in the area if they are conducting training exercises (like they did our last weekend there). It's also about an hour and a half to Wilmington, plus there's some other nice, beachy towns in the nearby area. The price, at $32 per night, is more expensive than most military facilities we encounter... however, location, location, location! It's still a good deal!

For Onslow Beach Campsites: We have stayed here several times. What is really nice is it is about .1 mile from the beach and borders the Intercoastal waterway. The fishing is great in September and October. Each site has a covered picnic area. There is a bathhouse and each site has 50 amp service. The cons - it is expensive. They raised their rates this year to $42 per night, the wifi did not work at the site we had. Last time we were there they hadn't even mowed the grass. Was disappointed.

For Onslow Beach Campsites: We so enjoyed ourselves at Onslow Beach that we extended our week stay for another week. Only complaint was the poor wifi service but we are AT&T in Version country. The staff was wonderful and very accommodating. Enjoyed riding our bikes and easy walking trips to the beach. Intercostal waterway was approximately 50 yards from our site.... And the alligator sign is FOR REAL. Great relaxing place and the other campers are very friendly. We meet some of the nicest people. Would stay there again when we are back in the area.
