For Smith Lake Army RV Park: Class A, 37' - Traveling through the area ... Smith Army RV Park is very nice... concrete slab (be careful, as not all are level and require blocks), decent bathhouses, and nice folks. Grounds are super well maintained. Yes, this is an army base and you may hear some helicopter noise at night, even late into the night and early morning hours...didn't mind or bother me at all. Would definitely use again!

For Smith Lake Army RV Park: First I would like to say that I don't know what it would take to please some people. I have stayed in military rv parks accross the country and Smith Lake ranks up there. It gives you a State Park feel but most of the sites have very large level concrete pads with full hook-up, 30/50 amp service. You can see the lake from most of the sites and the park is well maintained. If you are one of those people that must find fault with something, I'll give you a few so you can complain. Check-in is at 1500 hrs which is advertised. How about that, having a rule and sticking to it. How military. ??. Most sites don"t have fire rings but how many places have you stayed that every site has rings. Some but not all. Lastly, the noise of the helicopters and shelling. Can you imagine the gall of an active Army base interupting your solitude with real life mission training. If it weren't for all of our military training bases maybe we wouldn't have the luxuary to travel around in our fancy RVs. All I can say is it makes me proud to stay at a base rv park. HooRah!!!

For Smith Lake Army RV Park: Spent two nights here in a partial HU site (W/E) down by the lake ($18 a night). Park is off base, no gate. Our site's cement pad was fairly level, but very close to neighbor's pads. We didn't have a picnic table or firepit, but some sites did. We were in a wooded site with a lake view. Thursday night the helicopter rotor noise and low fly overs were constant until after midnight (earplugs got me some sleep), but Friday was quiet. Simmons Army Airfield is just across the lake from the park. Office crew was great and they keep the place clean. Bath facilities were private and were Ok. Didn't use the laundry. Close to base. Don't miss the Airborne & Special Ops museum in downtown Fayetteville.

For Smith Lake Army RV Park: This is an ok campground but nothing spectacular. Yes some have concrete pads and 30/50 amp hookup, some full hookup, not many, but difficult for some big rigs like mine. First drawback, people flying down gravel road throwing up dust and rocks. Very low flying helicopters , depends on your point of view, they amused my son. HUGE drawback, never have I stayed on a military campground and had to PAY just to swim in the lake until this place!!!! No it's not free with your paid camping, it's a separate fee per person which ended up costing more than a few days stay! I have stayed at many military campgrounds that included everything plus launching your boat! I will never stay here again!!!!! Huge disappointment !!!!

For Smith Lake Army RV Park: This is a great famcamp. It offers 30/50 Amp at most sites along with water and sewer hookups. The pads are new concrete and mostly level. I used 1 inch blocks on the drivers side only. Sites offer plenty of room and most are shaded. The Restrooms and showers were clean and large but dated. I did not use laundry facilities. The area is patrolled by both police and park personnel. Office personnel were friendly and helpful. There are alot of things to do there. Swimming, boating, hiking, biking, etc. A drawback I had was no cable or wifi. I had to drive to town to get updated via wifi. The roads to the campground are gravel. There could be a problem with dust if uncaring people decide to speed through the area instead of the 10 MPH posted limit. My "America the Beautiful" discount card was honored with no questions. We stayed 7 days in our travel trailer and look forward to a return visit.
