The Dispersed Camper
For Grandfather Mountain Campground: Stayed here for a month. Very nice scenery. Most places of interest were closed because of the flu. Park has good WiFi. They put me up in A79, which was a bit of a chore backing out of, but not the end of the world. There is a water faucet that has free drinking water. It tasted a little bit earthy for my taste, but my water pitcher filter made it taste good. Big bonus for the free drinking water. There is a nice little stream with a picnic area. At the entrance. There is a trout farm that you can fish at near the entrance for a fee. They have two washers and dryers. It rained pretty much constantly here, but it was nice. Price for a month was $550. They have short term rentals, but not when I went, because of the flu. I’d definitely stay here again.

For Grandfather Mountain Campground: Dec 2019 - Stayed one night in 30 amp spot for $35.
Pros: Staff was very friendly, helpful & responsive.
Cons: Site was gravel, EXTREMELY un-level, and difficult to access. Thankfully our RV is 23 ft long. I’m not sure how or if longer rigs would be able to access the site we were in (79).

For Grandfather Mountain Campground: RV sites were very close together. Tent sites are spacious. I was in a tent site but did not have to erect a tent. I camped in my minivan. My site was fairly level. I gave it 4 stars because there were only a few bath houses. If you are in a tent, it is a long walk to a bath house at night.

Wandering Whites
For Grandfather Mountain Campground: This campground is in a convenient location. Our site on the river was shaded and fairly level. The bath house is nicely updated and well stocked. We stayed for a one night stop over and did not explore the rest of the campground. Our late check in information was posted outside of the office and we dropped in the next morning for our receipt.

For Grandfather Mountain Campground: Good location if you were looking to ski at sugar Mountain. We stayed over the weekend from Friday to Monday at the end of January. It’s surprisingly had quite a few people camping there for winter season. Our spot was near the river which was nice. The biggest issue worth noting is that while the bathrooms were updated, they were very dirty. The entire time we stayed, neither the men’s or women’s restroom was clean or the overflowing trash emptied. Toilet paper and soap was not restocked. Since it was too cold to use the water and most RVs, it was very important to have a decent bathroom. The other negative was it was fairly difficult to get in touch with them to make a reservation and get information before heading that way. If it were not for these two things, campsite would receive four stars.

For Grandfather Mountain Campground: Great spot close to many attractions. Even provides many RV sites with a small level deck. The community bath house are nice - however the showers do not have much water pressure. Even has big field for games and you can see outline of grandfather mountain in the distance.
